..the body man wants to fabricate I think, am always on the look out if you've got any other bits though :) The (BMW) bodyshop guy is suggesting bonding rather than welding this section, using the tech they use for bonding new panels on the current models. Stronger than a weld apparently. Full pics to follow :)
I don't know if it helps you any, but I took a few bits off that rotten 520 I had before I weighed it in if you want them? Carb, manifold, kidney grill etc and a few other bits and bobs. Let me know if you want them otherwise I'll put them on ebay at some point and let some other sick E12 deviant have them! :D

..yes please :) I'll be heading your way in the next few weeks. I'm okay for kidneys at the moment, definitely worth an ebay listing though, they're £300 from source now 8O

Any chance you've got an external speedo drive M30 5 speed gearbox from the 528?

I sold the Ceylon 2500 auto (a long and emotional tale of woe), but I may have found a substitute... All will be revealed when I bring the E12 frag down to you... :D

I bet Matt breathed a sigh of relief as it 'receded' into the distance! Any cutting out issues?

...yep, looks like a new car :) Ran like a rocket ship all the way up to the A41 turn off circa 137 miles into the journey and then the weirdness came back. virtually within a few miles of where it did it last time.. Seems like any journey under 130 miles is fine, any more and it throws a strop.. Maybe book it in for a rolling road and set the video recording 130 miles in  (it happened the same sort of distance into the journey on the way up to Matt's :?
