About 20 mile shy of 120k when it drove down the road. So I put the best part of 30k on it.

Average has been between 22 - 24mpg (did a trip to Cardiff in the black one and averaged 31mpg) so they ain't the most economical car for normal town use but as Kos says, it's still a car with decent performance.

It's not been an expensive car to run if I'm truly honest but partly thats due to me having access to our resident main dealer tech. if you were booking these in for every little issue then saying "do the work" to the service adviser, they would bankrupt you. They have faults but i reckon it's par for the course these days.
I was spoiled with reletively new e34's which as we know were bullet proof. Now I have kids and the money is no longer as free flowing as it was, I'm driving 10 year old barges with 90-120k up and when you are in that position? You need to be realistic. You need to go in with eyes wide open, expect a warning light or two and be prepared for a bill. Buy wisely and it still won't negate expenditure. it'll limit the risk and thats about it.

It's a 2002 530i sport with more options that you can shake a stick at.

The silver one was not going to be sold as it had been behaving itself and was a jolly tidy old bus. But the black one came along, it's 2 years newer, has 30k less on the clock and the spec was the icing.

The downside? It's f*cking black and I HATE f*cking black! Already I'm bored with the fact I wash it and the next day it looks like it's been driven through a field.

:x

the plan was to keep the silver one another year then go for an e60 but this was too good an option to turn down.

And before you all kick off with how troublesome e60's are, i like to progress what I drive daily and not carry on driving around in the past. If they are troublesome then so be it. Again i'll have to live with it and be realistic in that they are what they are.

I get about 25mpg if I'm just driving to and from work and the on short local missions which involve mainly town city driving, I suppose being manual helps the MPG.

On a run last week up to York, I tanked up
& Re set the trip computer as I left home.

I was 3 up, boot full of luggage and AC on all the way up I got 34mpg. I was on the A1 going up and it was a clear run,
Coming back I used the M1 and got 36mpg.
Not bad IMO. I was pretty much on the way up doing 70 and 80 on the way back! Must be more down hill sections coming back. Also i always fuel up with shell V power. Car runs best on it.

One thing that will surprise a few people is how hard these cars are on rear tyres. I doubt you'd get more than 25,000 miles on a pair of tyres

Those figures make perfect sense kosman. Yours being a manual will help but what surprises me is how little different the auto actually is. You get 25, I get 23 ave. round town? You get 35 on a run, I get 31 (and I was at 80-'s and 90's). So fairly efficient really and bolster the fact that it's not worth risking all the diesel related dramas of the 3.0d donk for about 5-10 more MPG.

Black ones also an auto Dan. And a bloody good job at the moment as completely unable to drive a manual for any length of time due to this spazzy foot! :x

Manuals are much harder to find in these and even more so if you throw spec, condition and history as a requirement into the mix.

Kos' is a very rare car. I've driven it and (if you can get past the dubious stains on the passengers seat ), it's a wicked drive! it has good spec while also being a manual. Still bloody black though!

Hark at the executive with his 02 plate ! Trevor, is it true that Angry Barry, Kos, Potter and yourself meet up in the Asda carpark in Croydon every Friday night and discuss pixels and stuff while eating a kebab ? :)

However, this one came along and it was a no brainer. The e60 can wait another year .

A long overdue update and mainly because there have been no updates.

My 2nd 530i sport was sold on Monday to a nice chap willing to pay a premium for a nice one! winkeye

I put it on p1ssheads Saturday night, took the first call Sunday morning (along with a good offer via email and another 2 calls in the afternoon), the 1st guy rocks up Monday afternoon and paid full asking minus the cost of 6 months tax. Wish I'd asked more now!

It's been a great example this one. Bought from Bazla back in March 12, it's only needed tyres, servicing and the usual front thrust arms, one window reg, 2 wheel bearings, a thermostat and a bonnet alarm switch. I have had some paint done on it (courtesy of Hexagons) to remedy the stone chipping and a cracked front bumper, which, after some machine polishing and detailing work, brought it up a condition where I was shit scared to leave it anywhere!

So on Sunday, it will drive into the sunset with it's new owner. It will be a sad day. I've loved every moment with this one. It had pace, spec and looked the b0ll0cks. but it's time to move on.

I'll let the pics do the talking.

Will update with any new purchases but in the meantime it's a 98 Vulva 2.3 LPT 945 that I'm rollin' in.

The Volvos doing sterling work at the moment until I see something that takes my eye. It flew through it's MOT and just keeps going. Barry will vouch for it's load carrying ability! We slid a full M52 in there the other day and f*cker never broke a sweat!
