BMW E3
Moderator: martauto
I really do not like decked cars, especially when they're static- it shouts attention seeker and just looks utter sh*t (imo) I can, however, appreciate the work that goes into building a car properly, OEM or complete custom. Personally I dig a lowered car and a wheel/tyre combo that fills the arch a bit more like an OEM+/++ but that's just me. I like a car to actually work and any improvement in drive/handling is where it should be at, but hey I guess I'm just old and should leave the kool stuff to the kool kids...
idiots...

It's a E9 and as you know 2 doors are more expensive... about £16,000 more expensive. Only used it as an example for the colour.

I realise that. Gone up from the £3k you could have picked up several years ago. That one is particularly beautiful.

If only you had picked a few up...
A local guy paid £3000 for his low mileage German import '30 M3. Granted it didn't run but still... lucky tart.

Is the above a known car, or did you google it for the colour?

I thought I had not read the cost of the paint job properly, but it definitely states "£3000k"

Tell me more about low mileage unrestored cars ....bss325i wrote:Restored OEM and unrestored OEM are two different things.
Some of the low mileage unrestored cars that come through ML are something else.
And why the difference between unrestored OEM and restored OEM ?

Standard ones.. yawn....
A standard E3 is a far superior car to a standard E21 FACT !!!!!
A standard 3.0si would rip the head of a standard 323i and sh1t down its rusty throat ! FACT !!!!
I have since Jan 2014 really got a liking for E21 323i especially facelifts and with LSDs
Their cool style just looks awesome especially cruising the mean streets of London
Shows your different, u got style
And all the classic BMW hallmarks
RWD
LSD
Manual
Kidney grill
Quad lamps
Hoffmeister kink
Long throttle pedal
Driver centric cockpit
Classic 4 BMW gauges
And all that sideways action you got to be a true hero to drive one of these !!!!
Don't get why all the standard 323i have been molested bit of a shame
E21s look even cooler in black IMO

Even a slightly tatty but sound Genuine car will always have more value than a restored turd.. Originality is the key and nothing is nicer than clean Factory paint, something no bodyshop can re-create IMO
This wasn't always the case, everyone always wanted to buy a restored classic 5-6 years ago..
Bazza is following the trend, I suspect this is why he junked that horrid recaro re-trim and alpina stuff in favour of his turd being a factory Sport

It's the same as furniture, clothes, houses, etc.... Original unrestored excellent condition > restored excellent condition > unrestored ok condition > restored ok condition.

Should have had "brows" on it, hey Baz?

Depends if the car was completely original paint wise and your M3 is not so that answers that question!pony wrote:So if a car is resprayed purely to get rid of stone chips would that improve or reduce its value ?
RE my sport, it looked rude with all the alpina parts and the retrimmed recaros were nice enough but I wanted the car to look as close to as it would have done back in '89 and that meant no retrims, no Alpina parts and no big tunez!
Blaupunkt, M techic and factory leathers FTW!

Of course this will reverse when the "slightly tatty" examples rapidly descend into rusty turds, which they will. Then restored examples will gain top price.
Like everything else of value.

Not top price Jim, second top price as per this,

Yer, that makes sense
I guess i'm trying to say that "excellent condition" cars will be very very few and far between soon so the vast majority of nice examples will have been restored at least one.

Excellent cars are already few and far between.
