an e39 m5 won't leave you at the side of the road, it might run shite and be a pig but it will get you to where your going. An e60 M5 however will leave you at the side of the road stranded

Funny enough the guy I bought my m3 of today is on the lookout for an e60 M5 as his next car.

I think I would be inclined to also consider a 535d if looking at the e60
M5.

A v8 petrol 550i manual or auto if you can find one is also a bad boys motor.
stupid torque from a 535d can be had as Andrew said, 450lbs or more?!

I ran my dads 530d a couple of weeks back. 37mpg around town and think it's around 500lb/ft. Seriously quick car without even trying.

Diseasels just dont cut it, whatever the setup or numbers, as Barry says they stink and sound shit, plus an old derv is a nightmare waiting to happen.

Not sure on exact figures, sure that's what a lot of people claim on the Internet, A mate of mine has a 335d that claimed on the rollers made 560lb/ft.bss325i wrote:No way is it 500lbft. Either way whatever figures it makes it goes well and is very useable power.

So it's time to change the company car this year and looking at how much it costs and now I'm doing around 7k per year (down from over 20k) then it doesn't make as much sense to me as before. I've got a sympathy tax code from HMRC that barely remains on the positive side. The alternative is around a £7k allowance before tax and finally getting the proper amount of salary.
Looking at spending around £7k later this year on something with practicality but also interesting. Thinking of a 5 door 130i Sport (need something with wheelchair carrying capability for visits to the father in law).

The M57 top engine (twin turbo) that the 535d and 335d have are more than capable of producing over 500lbft but the M57 single turbo your old man has is not.maxfield wrote:Not sure on exact figures, sure that's what a lot of people claim on the Internet, A mate of mine has a 335d that claimed on the rollers made 560lb/ft.bss325i wrote:No way is it 500lbft. You will struggle with a wheel chair in an E87 boot!jas025 wrote:So it's time to change the company car this year and looking at how much it costs and now I'm doing around 7k per year (down from over 20k) then it doesn't make as much sense to me as before. A nice big scary bill should do the trick!Simon13 wrote:It really is hard to ignore the lure of the diesels
As ever, the trick is to buy something whose maintenance costs are absorbed into its increasing value. Not easy to pull off.

Had a 120d Sport before and it just about fitted. Father in law has one that folds up much better now so pretty sure it will fit.bss325i wrote:You will struggle with a wheel chair in an E87 boot!jas025 wrote:So it's time to change the company car this year and looking at how much it costs and now I'm doing around 7k per year (down from over 20k) then it doesn't make as much sense to me as before. If not then he's not going out for lunch - he's been having far too much input into my choice of car for too long!

That would make an awesome stablemate to the BiTurbo! Just need to check who did the engine rebuild, along with a full autopsy of course.....Simon13 wrote:http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p

Are you planning on selling the B3S to make way for a new addition to the fleet?

I was hoping you weren't going to say that, and that you'd let it go for a song to a nearby neighbour!Simon13 wrote:bss325i wrote:That looks like a world of pain to me.
