How difficult is it to retro fit electric heated leather to a E46 coupe?

Very easy actually!

A permanent live and earth to each seat for the seat adjustment and if you want the mirrors memory then you need to ad the mirror memory module in the driver door and a single bus wire from the drivers seat to it but you don't need to add the mirror bit to get the seats to work.

Heated requires a retrofit loom which is about £40 for both parts and the switch pack.

The live to the seats and the heated retro fit loom terminate in the fuse box behind the glove box.

I can provide you with full retro fit instructions and part numbers for the loom. You won't find the part numbers on realoem as the are part of a retrofit kit which is NLA.

Thanks Barry 8)

I looked at this today (because it was local & I'm getting fed up) but had bubbling starting on the front arches and a few other touch ups, plus the original P6000 on the driver side front was about to delaminate the tread.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150962920078? ... 1423.l2649

Phoned up about this one tonight, another local car, bubbling front arches

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1999-BMW-328- ... 3164155%26

I like the look of this, but it's a bit leggy and pricey for it don't you think? Well looked after cars can carry it well though I guess. It's been for sale for a while. If it could be had for more sensible money, would you take a punt on a 160k mile 330?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2002-02-BMW-3 ... 3ccd2af150

From the searcing and viewing I've done so far, for sub £3k, a corrosion-free E46 is barely achievable (unless you buy a 4 pot thruster)

Mate, i took a punt on a 217k 328Ci for a bag back in 2010. I rebushed the whole car, put some eibachs and B4's on it and id 10k in about 10 months before px'ing it with pacer.

As long as the cooling system is kept in good nick and they have regular oil changes they will do big miles no sweat.

Seen a few with +300k.

That black one looks superb! You will struggle to find a better spec'd 4dr than that!

Stop being put off by a few bubbles on the rear arches, just get them sorted straight away.

Not only was it as quiet as a 40k donk, it was bone dry as was the box and diff.

Once i rebuilt the suspension it drove so nice, as good as one with a quarter of the leg it had done.

Shame about the paint work!

I've seen 54 plate E46's with developing rust - it's just a feature of them.
There was a clean moredoor E36 Evo on the bay for £3000 last week.

I pointed out some blistering on the driver front arch of a colleague's very tidy 54 plate touring today.

I might make a call about this

That grey one also has a nice spec but it's a 328. They go well enough but they're no 330.

The 160k is not madness as long as there is plenty of history and evidence of previous work.

If there is, Bid him £2500 and go from there.

Agreed, at that mileage, all the maladies that they have between 100k and 120k should have been addressedand have evidence in the history. We've all driven high milers with 200k up that drive nicer than a 90k car with worn bushes, suspension and joints.

I spoke to the seller about the black 4dr with 160k on the clock today.

It does sound an all together car, but it does have some minor corrosion to the bottom of the driver side rear arch. I've asked for some pics and will review tomorrow as to whether I jump on the train on Saturday to go and take a look.

I did start having a quick look about for a 530i manual but they seem thin on the ground and a few munters about.

Andy had suggested the iS200, I do like them, but they are gutless turds with only about 130bhp and don't seem to get above 30mpg. I'd have an iS300 in a shot, but they are all porridge boxed up and I want a manual.

Not sure mate, but sub 20 mpg is no thriller for me, otherwise I'd be looking at plenty of other luxo barges.

This is the pic I got from the seller of the 330 this morning, showing some pretty minor corrosion to the lower section of the driver rear arch.

I'm going to swerve it to be honest. The lowest he will take is £2850. It has no rent in the screen and MOT expires in Feb. It's a handsome car with very nice spec, but is over priced IMO.

Soararse went about 18 months ago, had no MOT or tax as I'd parked it up after getting the Chromie on the road, so it went down the road for a mere £500. It was the V8 Jon.

I'm changing the game plan a little and am going to look at this local car (40 mins away) tomorrow. Apparently has zero corrosion on the arches.

The M3 saloon was a Cosmos black one. The blue one would be okay for 3 bags if it was uptogether. £2800 for an E46 with crusty arches is a joke - that will be rot when Mr Grinder comes out to play. The grey one looks okay but indpect the arches very carefully. It's worth whipping the liners out and cleaning /waxoying. A car that didn't rust would be better.

I'll be honest i'm not seeing the rusty e46's down here, and i'm looking because of this thread.

Also my dad had a 325i e46 coupe for 10 years, auto great car but no real torque an e30 325i is just as quick. He used to get e30 style mpg figures also in it. Where as a 330i is proper quick old thing even now. Having said what i said his e46 has crusty front arches and the rear where starting to go also. he didn't look after it very well tbh, was a high spec car with electric heated sports leather, glass roof, electric shagging blind, harmon Kardon, Xenons etc

Maybe a fruited e36? They give 90% of what an e46 does and are uber reliable. Go the a bit higher and an e90? they're brilliant and i've yet to see a crusty one. 330D manuals are a weapon and do 38mpg easy

That looks like a nice car but I reckon you'll be bored of it in 5 minutes - they weigh a ton and whilst 192bhp might be plenty in an E30 it will be adequate at best in an E46.

If you really did get bored of the 2.5 then a 3.0 is literally a drop in job, one day on a ramp.

Or you could make something really cool and S54 the wagon!

I take it it had clean arches? :)

As auto's go they are great and on most E39's, E46's, E53's you can fit and wire in the steering wheel from an SMG M3 to get the paddles.

Its going to be one of the first mods i do the 540 ive just bought for the mrs. :)
