Not sure if this is the right place to post but, my 1994 316i E36 had the siren deactivated i.e. turned off with the key so that it doesn't make any sound. I have now lost said key, is it easy to find a replacement or are the keys uniques to each car?
Failing that, would it be easy to fit a louder aftermarket siren...

if its the bmw alarm then you need to replace it with the same bmw one.
but... bmw do sell new locks/keys for them or they used to anyway, worth asking

Would a replacement siren/ken second hand from a breakers be a case of a straight swap, would it work ? and is the wiring easy to replace...

the wiring connector is inside the car but you can cut the wires in the engine bay and solder/heatshrink them, thats what i've done before when i had a duff siren
finding alarm exact same as yours with a key at breakers would be near impossible, best bet is to get new lock for it, if its the alarm siren i'm thinking it is then its quite easy to dismantle and replace the lock i've done it before couple of times.
