ive just found one!!!
cant be 100% sure its genuine yet but its badged up, full tech1 kit, and a twin exit centre mounted exhaust. I cant put pic up really cos i think i was trespassing but its sat in a yard full of old cars waiting to rust away, although it looks pretty tidy to be honest! smashed rear light and some mold but otherwise ok on the outside. i have reason to believe the guy who owns the place has died, in time i want to get in contact with someone to see about buying it... but how much do you think its worth? obviously it has no tax or test and its been there about 2 years iirc. thanks

its a difficult one. i dont want to rob em completely blind if you know what i mean, as its previons owner is now dead and it would prob be his family who sell it to me. ill have to do some research and find out who to contact about it. if its too much money i will be posting its location on this forum though, so stay posted

Yea, that's how the mileage came into conversation! My mate said he just changed it, so I was like
200k miles!! Then he said, errr no - 300k
Bloody nice car, I had the chance to give it a once over at the weekend when I went to pick up the engine crane from his garage, it's in for a fuck load of welding, then he's selling up apparently. My mate's dad who does the majority of the work reckons he'll probably end up keeping it once the works done as he's spent near on £5-6k in the last 2 years at this particular garage.

My m535i's are valued roughly between £750 and £2000 (top whack).
Mechanically identical to 535's which are worth less if that helps.
There are no better features on a m535i over a 535i bar the kit. 535i's have the same suspension, lsd, interior the lot as a m535i.
Shouldn't really tell you all this as it de-values my m535i somewhat but hey, fuck it.
M5's came with or without the kit at the owners discretion, although i have seen lots more on-line without I have only seen a couple real ones in real life and they have all had the m-tech kit on.
Real ones have better suspension, arbs, engines, diffs, interiors, brakes etc etc but there were only 187 rhd ones sold here afaik which makes them pricey and a bit thin on the ground. A lhd Spanish import tipped up at BMW sunday last week which was rough as assholes and that still cost 3.5k.

Pay £100 for a rough one - at least you can break it, sell bits and turn a profit if it's too far gone. TBH It's just not worth buying a crap one unless it's silly cheap (i.e £100) as tidy ones aren't worth a lot and the cost of putting a shit one to rights is £Â£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£
A good 535 is hard to find and these especially manual versions will be going up in price soon if they haven't already. As Andy boy says they are not a cheap car to fix up though and as such deserve a discerning owner these are not cheap hooligan chariots any more.

I agree whole heartedly mate especially as they really aren't worth loads tidy. I would say though they still get good money on ebay for rough examples needing a lot of work. I saw a smacked one going for 1k the other dayAndyboy wrote:Pay £100 for a rough one - at least you can break it, sell bits and turn a profit if it's too far gone. An automatic went on ebay last night for £335!! Missed out on it but probably would have regretted the MPG - it had an MOT with 6mth tax available @ £65 it's worth more than a £400 T&T car.
