Here is todays update. We bought a complete bluelight kit on ebay for only $29. This is the actual OEM light/sirene box that were used on the E28 and its this one from the BMW parts database:

So we started off today with drilling holes in the roof of our car to fit the sirene box:

Believe it or not, these were carburettor 518's. I don't know who or what the German Police were hoping to catch with one of those - maybe a drunk on a bike?AndySix wrote:

These were famous from 'Octopussy' with 3-4 of them chasing an Alfa GTV6 which in reality would have marched away.......
