Insuring Multiple Cars

Hi

Need some help.

Any recommendation on what would be the most economical method how to ensure more than 3 cars.

Live in London cars include 325i Sport Turbo, 325i Touring (arriving soon) and Pug 206 D Turbo. Also need the wife on the Ins.

I have looked into trade policies from road runner quoted aprox £1300 with the wife fully comp, £550 TPFT just me. I do have full NCB.

I have a multiple car policy, but all three cars have to be over 15 years old. I got it through HIC. One of the cars is slightly modified, but bodywork only (fibreglass front). Limited mileage on all three.

The BM's are both 89's. And all three are modified.

I think i tried tradex - they were quoting something silly. But i'll try them again

Full Comp - £1940
TPFT - £1500
TPFT - £ 864

Could not get the "Multiple Classic Policy" as the car Pug is only 7 years.

However HIC quoted the following Classic policy limited 3K mileage:
325 Tourer - Comp - £279.00
TPFT - £228.27

does your wife have NCB too? if so maybe spearate policies may be cheaper?

at the moment I insure 3 cars on 3 policies, but its damned expensive (nearly £100 a month) as I can only use my no claims on one car

No she does not have any NCB shes only been driving 2 years.

As you said 3 cars - 3 seperate policies work out expensive.

All three at the moment seperate ins are costing just under 1k per year.

Still working on quotes.

had similar problem:
e30 2.7 trackcar - heavily modified
e36 m3 evo saloon - stock but biz use
caterham 7 with cosworth bdg - heavily modified
merc 300 te - stock
golf 1.3 - v.stock!

was paying serious £Â£Ã‚£'s because they were insured with 3 separate co's - and no claims could not be used on all cars

now all insured via platinum insurance - a broker who i think placed the business with chaucer? who arranged a multiple car policy

i now pay half the amount i was paying before - and crucially it's all consolidated in one place

biggest joke is that g/f is now insured on m3 evo and this reduced the premium on the car by £300!!! - compared to her not being insured on it

careful with the trade policies. I have traders insurance (because i trade part time! ) but at the end of every year I have to give details of all the cars inc. reg nos of the cars I have traded so they can check with the DVLA that I am genuinely trading.
