A Friend of mine from Bergen in Norway went to getter with some car nutters to buy a BMW for fun in the snow during the winter. That means get the cheapest BM you can get for cash. So what do they end up with..

An old BMW 528i E28

Like you can see, this lady is a bit old and not in good shape anymore, so she need some new paint and some new parts.

So the technical team (shown with only one person) have started to do the work

78dude tipped me about this thread. I am one of the owners for this car!

It's not a 528, Erik, it's a 525i. ;)

We are in the process of getting POLIZEI stickers for it. We have found the font (Avant garde gotic bold if anyone's interested) and will do the letters as soon as we have decided how big they should be to best look like the original. We are doing our best to make it look original. But it'll probarbly look best from a distance or on images as the paint/rust/dents isnt perfect. ;)

The paint is the actual paint codes that the German Polizei used in that time period and was mixed by a local paint shop. The white is just white (but still the actual paintcode) and the green is color coded RAL 6029.

Here is our inspiration:

If you have any pictures of E28 POLIZEI cars we will be very happy to see them!

Just imagine this POLIZEI car sideways round the corner in the snow with a blue flashlight on the roof! winkeye

We are very happy you like our little budgetracer project!

Here is todays update. Our technical supervisor of our team said its tappets needed adjustment as the tappets was rattling a bit. So we found our tools and started to adjust.

Image

And I finally got to drive the car myself! ...but only in front of the garage to take some pictures. So, ladies and gentlemen, here is a few pictures and closeups of our beauty that I am confident you have all been waiting for:

Once it goes below 8c i cant even think of working on cars. Do you all have huge heated barns to mess about in?

hehe, no. One of the owners is lucky enough to own one. But dont think it is very hot still. The ice and snow from the driving hasn't melted yet! :) Dress warm, I suppose.

No heat in the barn I'm afraid. What you need is some halogen light beams. They heat very well, we got 4X 500W. A good insulated coverall, some working gloves and a sailors wool tophat. And of cause you need to be working to keep the blod circulation heating your exstremeties nice and warm
