what are peoples opinions on these cars, any good or bit of a hairdressers car?
I'm lead to believe they have an e30 rear suspension set-up so does that mean they are like ducks on ice too?
What kind of stuff generally goes wrong with them anything else I might like to know I might look into buying one
cheers all

i cant afford the m coupe unfortunately. I will certainly be looking to buy one in the future though i would think I'm looking at a 6 pot the 2.5 would be nice but will try the 2.0 too could bring a surprise

why on earth do you want one of these? buying one gives you an instant fag tag.
who gives a monkeys arse if its got e30 rear suspension. thats a bad thing in my opinion. the m coupe is nice, quirky, and will probably hold value in the future.
if you want a cab then buy an e36. they are cheap now, and look great.

ZM Coupe is the only one I would recommend.

i would go for a 2.8 or the later rarer 3.0 with 231bhp. 30 odd miles to the gallon and they are as fast as u like. I like them with the big engines. They are fun to drive. M coupe is the daddy though
Says someone with no driving licence! You do come out with some classics!maxfield wrote:they are pretty slow and the v12s aint that reliablejonb wrote:tomson wrote:Or an 850i ? ?
If 155 mph (limited) is slow, I'm a pedestrian...........
well my dads is/was really slow from being a passangerAndyboy wrote:Says someone with no driving licence! You do come out with some classics!maxfield wrote:they are pretty slow and the v12s aint that reliablejonb wrote:

I had a 2.8 for 4 years when they first came out; a close friend had an M, and then the 3.0 as above. (as he trashed the M - a vicious car)Simon13 wrote:i would go for a 2.8 or the later rarer 3.0 with 231bhp. 30 odd miles to the gallon and they are as fast as u like. I think the shape is fantastic; mine was M-tech suspension and the handling was really very good, and you could provoke a tail-slide at will. Yes they do still have trailing arms, and shared the chassis with the E36 compact.
I only sold it when we started a family. I bought the E30 to have a cabbie with 4 seats.
I don't understand the hairdresser comments levelled only at the Z3 - any convertible can look gay, and two blokes in one is the pits, but if you want a 2-seater convertible, with the BEST build quality, and the best BHP for your money, I can't think of anything that comes close
The E36 cabbie is still a pimp/drug-dealers car in my eyes.
I'm not having a go at The Boy! He's alright and he gives plenty of stick back. His Dad, the one and only 'Mad axe Maxfield' is going to Gaydon next year armed with a Samurai sword to sort 'someone' out..........
Lots of cars feel slow as as a passenger and the 850i is one of them because they're faster than they feel. Around town they can feel a bit lethargic with the auto box but once they're up and going they move along quite nicely. A 12 pot car running on 11 pots IS noticeable. Years ago I picked up my XJS from the main dealer in Oxford after having the aircon regassed and it felt odd - number one plug lead hanging off!
Terrible headlights and vaguetronic steering spoil the 8 Series a bit though.

S2000?
MX5?
Mr2?
Those are the more sensible options. I guess a Carrera GT is technically a 2 seater car.

and the other 2? Do me a favour; the MX5/MR2 have no bhp at all and are the MGBs of their day
