Hi All,

New to the board, been looking for a decent E30 325i Conv. Going to view one on Monday. 1989 on G. Anyone got any tips on buying? price guide? what to look for? possible areas of concern, etc.

Cheers

Hi there welcome to the zone!

Usual areas of interest are normally

front jacking points.
rear arches.
History of car..(but mine came with none and its not been a problem)
Rear sub frame bushes.

This is all I can think about of the top of my head, but im sure someone else can help you out!

That should pretty much cover it - only the Cab specific bits will be missing, like what to check for regarding the roof etc.

hood, hood, and hood
is it torn? does it fold away smoothly? electric can be a nightmare

325 engine oil and coolant must be changed on service interval

stick your fingers between the tyres and rear arch on both sides - make sure this gap is the same on both sides

apart from that all the usual things to look out for when buying any car

stick your fingers under the carpet in front of the rear seat... is it damp? are the seats stained with water marks? does the car already come with a 'Magic Tree' or similar.

leaks can be sorted, but they can be very expensive

oh yes... wecome :D

Thanks Guys...am a little nervous...I currently have a company car...an e46, but this is going as I starting out on my own and really wanted a classic bmw, I opted for the one I wanted when I was young an E30...am viewing tomorrow...it looks great on pictures, I've checked the HPI status and its clear, no stolen, no HP and no Write Offs...so fingers crossed...!

I'll post some pics if I decide to buy it!

:)
