Does anyone know which switches will work, as the e36 seems to have three different types

A friend of mine mentioned in passing that the window switches from an e36 or other later BMW's would fit in the earlier e28 center console to replace the rather old looking two button switches.

im sure the e36 has only one type of window switch, as to weather it will fit it will be a case of trial and error. i dont know it the connections are even compatible cos of the age difference of the cars
