E34 6cyl/v8 differences? Swap?

Having missed out on the E34 I wanted, (still kicking myself!) I'm considering another one... however, it's a 520 auto, which would be fine for a short while, but I will definitely be wanting an engine swap, sooner rather than later!!!

I've read a lot of stuff online saying you cant really fit a v8 where there was a 6cyl - is that really the case???
Surely if its brackets and mounting points, they would be reasonably easy to fabricate during the swap?
(obviously aware that'll cost!!!)

Are there any suspension, or other, differences on the factory v8?

If it comes to having brackets fabricated, I'm stupidly wondering if a v12 would fit!!!!
