That time of year again when its time to get a car sorted for rust2rome.

Did it last year in a £200 406 coupe which made it there and back just and was scrapped .

I said to my mate last year the next time we do it it has to be rwd and at least 2.5l as we visit some fantastic roads on route through the alps.

Anyway we bought this a couple of days ago, e46 328ci msport 109k £450 delivered.Rough around the edges looks better in pics





List of things needing done is growing fast

diff bush
rocker gasket
sump gasket
front pads
front discs
accelerator cable
clean throttle body
weld hole in exhaust

Hopefully with the work above done it will have a years mot.


Wondering if i should do the vanos while doing the rocker gasket, anyone got a link to a good repair kit ?

New one fitted and all back together .Fingers cross the cluck has gone never had time to test.

Diff bush only part of the clunking

Very quick lick of hammerite



Then re-bushed and fitted .Waiting on new bushes for the upper and lower control arms before i can complete the rebuild but i'm sure the clunk will be gone now .

Nearly ready for mot . On to cosmetics, few bad bits on the rear arches have been smarting up quickly and badly but looks better from 10 yards than the rust did.. Wheels painted black again badly , was all going smooth until last coat of base starting sliding off so ended up an saving mission rather than re-sand. Plus a bgw ebay special for comedy value was fitted to the boot.

Mot tomorrow and it will be the first drive its had in my ownership other that the 2min test drive when i bought it.

Only six weeks until it has to do a 4k round trip to europe and back so fingers crossed all goes ok.

A wee bit of colour added here and there just to chav it up even more. (///M)
