There are varying costs to replacement as there are a few methods of repair. The most extreme being removal of the engine a complete strip down to replace all the guides, all three chains and the crankshaft (as the crank sprocket is part of the crank) and the least extreme being some of the parts replaced using split link chains.beemerbird wrote:Thanks for those words of wisdom, Barry.

I don't suppose you have a ballpark figure that BMW might charge me for doing this...? The car has full service history, but about half is from an independent rather than BMW.
