I'm going to be changing the battery on my E92 on Friday and have seen mention on the Interweb that something needs resetting/reprogramming when doing so.
Can anyone confirm whether this is correct, and is it something I could do myself, or is a special diag tool needed?
Cheers,

Yes you need the register the battery replacement on the car or it will not charge properly and can shorten the life of the battery.
Cheers Barry.
Bloody modern cars, is it easily done?

Anyone with a half decent diagnostic software should be able to do it.
I've got a Bosch system and can do it on that, but everytime I change the battery on a BMW, I always have to re initialise the neutral calibration otherwise the stop/start doesn't work.
On another note, I've got a mate who designs stop/start systems and battery control modules etc. He says they don't actually need to tell the car it's had a new battery as the modules are self learning and should charge accordingly.

Coding in a battery is really quick and easy, as above, worth doing it properly.

Righto, I'll look into what software I need and cable I need. Rather do that than pay someone to do it for me.
