Not easy to see the pic on my phone, but that looks like a MAF (rather than the M42 AFM) so it should be an M44.
Another quick way to tell is the thermostat housing - M42 metal, M44 plastic.

Intake Manifold looks like the later type M44.

Not sure if some M42s used this too...

It has pfl grilles, suggests m42.

M42 to M44 changeover was 1995, facelift was late '96.
