Just seen an E30 with some black plates on the front (not sure about back) and I really liked it.

can anyone give me some information on black plates. Like where I can get some, how legal they are ect.. Mine was registered in 1987 if that helps.

Cheers.

Cars registered before January '73 can legally have black plates.

Would be roughly the same as having your lettering spaced out incorrectly, also wouldn't pass an MOT I reckon?

Doubt the traffic police would be too pleased about it.

You can buy 'show' plates from places like Pro Plates on the web, but its at your own risk.

Reflective 'plates are a passive safety item, back 'in the day' they were specified on new cars well before the above quoted 'cut off' date.

If you are really honest, only pre 70's tackle 'looks' right with black/white 'plates.
