I would never buy a more door

Fixed rear bulkhead and smaller door openings supposedly make them stiffer. After 15+ years I doubt anyone would be able to tell the difference in how they drove
3.0 saloons it slated a bit at launch because they got a softer suspension setup, but evo saloons are exactly the same as the coupes.
I prefer the saloon to the coupe, and the pre-facelift to facelift. Maybe I'm just a bit odd

Late 96 from memory.
They didn't really do a lot though, just a slightly different flush grille with wider chrome area, and slimmer side repeaters, plus the odd detail change like steering wheel type and colour / trim options and seatbelt pretensioner type.
Not enough to make seeking one over the other a priority anyway. I personally prefer the slimmer recessed grille of the early cars which suits the shape of the nose better and looks a bit more aggressive.
