I understand the whole don't mess with an m5 thing but I don't find that particularly offensive. Agreed, 16" proper RS's would look more period. Nice car though.

M535i was the only E28 to have the kit as standard, M5 seem's extra special by not having it for somereason...........executive

The only bit I don't like is the dials

It's the Q car thing - understated performance was the whole ethos of the E28 M5, hence bodykits etc are seen as detracting from it. Makes sense to me, though I do love a nice kitted E28 too..
This with the Alpina front dam and BINGOBlitz wrote:I like the Hartge mechanical work but prefer the un-kitted M5. Its all about the deep front spoiler and clean side and rear end.

I've noticed Pete has strong views on this topic before...

I agree the clocks are proper minging though.
I want one with very low mileage, preferably one owner. Such a thing will exist I'm sure.e30topless wrote:I know the owner very well, He has about 8 really nice E28 M5's

I must admit I don't like the dials, but the rest of it is ok and it looks nice in the metal. I also prefer M5s without the kit, it just cheapens them and makes them look like an M535i.
I have been having thoughts about converting to kit-free with bumpers if I get mine re-painted as my bodykit is slightly damaged anyway. However, I do have a whole spare bodykit in good condition which can go on that came off of a black M5. Also I have some rather dishy wheels to go on that look much better on a kitted car. The previous owner had them on a bumpered one and it did not look quite right in my eyes (maybe a little council). So I am in two minds.

Mark.
I'd leave the kit on since it's an M535i
