Excellent thread Barry, nice to see this car saved after years of neglect.

Will be keeping an eye on this.

It is! Witnessed said chariot yesterday afternoon and it's coming along nicely. Leather looks great all moving at the touch of a few buttons

Also one of the nicest gear changes I've felt in a loooong time. With a bit of detailing this is gonna be a nice car!

T'was a busy week last week what with a house move and messing about with this scrap for a week!
Yes the B10 is now manual'd, LSD'd has an A/C heater box fitted and wall to wall black buffalo extended memory sport leather.
The top end rattle is also now sorted after replacing the rocker shafts and eccentrics which negated the removal of the head.
The sad news is that i somehow managed to wipe the photos i hadn't saved to my computer when updating to IOS5 software on my i phone! :x I have a few pics but nothing special! :(

New genuine BMW clutch along with new bolts, spigot bearing and rear main seal.

Image

All the parts to rebuild the gear linkage and i thought i'd give a Z3 1.9 stick a try.

Image

Image

Original cap and rotor still fitted from 1988! Pretty f*cked but it still ran ok! Both were replaced with new Bosch items.

Image

Image

Complete interior striped to reveal no rot anywhere luckily!

Image

Dash top and carpet in mid way through the interior fit up

Image

and thats about all the photos that didn't get lost.

I saw one of these today. Great looking on the road. It was emitting a smoke screen though! It was another white one, in the Fareham area, just in case anyone knows who owns it.

Great job rescuing this one, I agree, the only trouble with Alpina is their thing with auto boxes. OK they are meant to be cruisers, but still, who were they trying to sell them to, yankees?

I never understood it, working their magic on the mecahnicals, and then harnessing it with an auto box. Then again Ive never driven one, maybe their auto box is brilliant too, but I find autos dangerous in general, on normal cars, never mind on beasts like this.

Gears changing at unexpected moments is my major pet hate with autos.

Anyway, subscribed for updates!

A few more pics for you picture hounds! :)

The rocker cover and inlet Trev did for me in the correct colour for Alpina M20/M30 engines along with an exact replica of the Castrol/Alpina Label courtesy of Pukar.

And a couple of the interior now its gone from nasty indigo blue cloth to Black extended buffalo sport seat. The interior is in dire need of a clean and detail as is the rest of the car to be frank.

Can you spot the missing item?
