I am a member of "Classic and Vintage BMW Enthusiasts" and came across their latest status on shock horror "bookface"

Here is how it goes:

"If BMW were open to suggestions regarding the re-creation of any pre-'91 model, what model would you suggest and what modern day technology would you like to see incorporated into your suggested model?"

This is my reply:

BMW E30 325i Sport - Tech1 & Tech2
I would like to see incorporated:
Latest top technology for rust prevention when building the BMW E30 chassis and the shell
BMW M Differential (as per BMW E46 M3 to the BMW E30)
The braking technology for ...the BMW E46 M3 CSL such as cross-drilled disc brakes and high-performance brake pads
BMW E30 M3 Sport Evolution steering rack ratio or the BMW E46 M3 CSL steering rack ratio
Xenon headlamps for the front
BMW DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) switchable as per the BMW E46 M3
BMW E30 M3 Sport Evolution steering wheel and gear lever in alcantra (though these are easily retrofittable)
Keep the original normally-aspirated straight-six M20B25 to appreciate the technology as it is with throttle cable.
PS no catalytic convertor

Now your turn fellow E30Zoners :D

PS a few BMW E30 M3 Sport Evolutions would not go amiss so i can stock up on them and have one to play with and one as a garage queen.

DSC?! :pff:
Alcantara - why not have real suede or leather not some fake polyester crap?

Rust prevention is a brilliant idea though dude - they could do with using that on the newer cars too!

Electronic stabilty control:
yes DSC i appreciate the technology of modern BMWs but switchable so you can have it off too. On my E46 which has the predessor ASC i leave it on most of the time so never really fully experience what it is like with it off. On my E30 which has no electronic stability control systems of the type it practically forces me to learn to get comfortable without one. As my first BMW was only ever a E46 so i did not get to experience BMWs before ASC/DSC and learn about their handling/controlling oversteer that way. However, i have appreciation for the modern technology even if ASC/DSC is configured quite cautiously by BMW even in the very latest BMWs.

Besides if BMW did ever make it in production i imagine alot would be crashed if they dd not have one so having an electronic stability control system makes sense from a model longetivity point of view.

Alcantra/suede:
I did not know the difference. I think BMW M3 CSL steering wheel came in alcantra and the BMW M3 Sport Evolution steering wheel came in sude. Though i could be wrong.

Alcantara is a fake suede made from polyester and polyurethane. While suede is from a proper dead animal (often goat).

I would love to see the old 6 series come back , with the M5 V10 under the bonnet , better tyre and wheel tec than orginally installed. M Power Struct bars front and rear , carbon fiber roof like seen on the e46 M3 CSL , modern semi auto gear box technology.

Can be remedied by altering inlet manifold geometry etc. and turbo size.

nice idea would need really big brakes 6 piston calipers at front and 4 piston calipers at the rear. i was thinking of the aero problems.......there is a great article on the LEGEND that is Gordon Murray looking at the Bugatti Veyron...

http://www.roadandtrack.com/tests/data/ ... a-supercar

I was thinking of the lift generated by that six series, shark nose, wing mirrors would be flexxing and the seals not being tight enough possibly. This can all be rectified though. Would need a nice flat undertray and a proper diffusor.......glueing that 6 series to the ground.

I think tyres are generally overlooked alot by car manufacturers. Anyone remember that AUTOCAR magazine article (Performance Car of the Year - 2003 i have the original magazine at home) of the CSL v 996 GT3 Mk2 v 360CS....? the CSL generated so much mechanical grip in the dry thanks to the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres.

The latest generation of petrol turbo engines from BMW have zero lag.

For those asking for cup holders, I'd assumed it was a well known fact that a can of fizzy fits and holds perfectly in the corner of the recessed area on the dash side of the front ashtray.

Doesn't work with travel mugs for tea/coffee though. :?

Or in the case of the discussion (a new version of the car) it should come with one rather than you buying a brand new car and having to fit your own.
