No connection to seller and I'm not about to buy it, but it's unusual to see one that hasnt been meddled with, and the E34 looks a lot classier than it seemed to a few years back in my eyes.
Nice Bus

You need to go and have a look at this as the starting price seems a bit steep imo
Previously owned loads of old E30s, E34s, a few E36s, E32s, E39s and an E38.
Currently in a diesel Audi - miss me old E30's....

The starting price is not steep compared to all the scrap and wronguns out there.
if I was to criticise anything though, the spec looks very weak? OK it has AC but I always thought the big six (3.0 and 3.5) had Headlamp wash, Leather SE steering wheel, BBS and front armrests for a start. I may be wrong but when I was looking for my first 5 I was looking at ones around this year (this was in '96) and ended up with a 1990 G 525i SE. The reason I recall was that the 525 could still be bought in NON SE spec. But I'm sure the M30 engined cars were all SE spec as standard. I have a 1991 5 series brochure here but it's for the later m50 range (as opposed to the m20) by which time they'd dropped the 530 and it all may have changed but deffo states 535's are SE spec from the off and I'm sure the 530 was the same earlier on.

Nice original looking car that will have years of life left in it. Shame its not the 3.5 donk though and I can't say I'm overly keen on the colour (cirrus blue?) but it does look a lovely old barge. The kind of example Old Colonel would have up for a lot more £.

Yeah I think it will be Cirrus on that year. I looked at a 525 on this year back in the day and it was identical to the advertised car bar the M30. Had a dreadfully moody history and was stonechipped to f*ck IIRC.darkchild wrote:Nice original looking car that will have years of life left in it. This guy has purchased it who's had a few of his restored cars featured in various BMW magazines over the years.

I had a 530 auto on a H plate which had the same alloys, steering wheel and no arm rests (blue interior) no rear headrests, M30 engine.B7 wrote:The starting price is not steep compared to all the scrap and wronguns out there.

Yes, I did buy it!
Here's a brief summary of what it is REALLY like:
Genuine mileage of 71K miles. Owned by a chap who bought it from a local BMW Maindealer as a retirement present to himself at the age of 65 about 16 years ago. The mileage then was already 54K. So his mileage thereafter was almost vanishingly low! An 'average' of only 1K miles/year...but several years less than 200 miles. All documents, MOTs, Tax discs, receipts to back it up. Now at the age of 81 years he was hanging his spurs up.
Drives like an absolute dream! Incredible for a 22 year old car. A long time since I've taken a car out for a drive just for the simple pleasure of driving. Quite quick too being a manual...I suspect it hasn't been driven at any speeds even approaching any speed limits in the last 16 years!
Interior pretty much perfect. Never smoked in. No tears, cracks, scuffs. Plastic still has a nice matt finish.
Yes, the 'spec' isn't huge but I actually prefer that on these older cars. I was actually mightly relieved when I came to collect it that ot had no A/C (as the ad stated A/C)...I suspected it didn't anyway. The hassle of it not working or having to convert it to modern gas etc.
IMHO a good cloth interior is preferable to leather (see the other E34s in the Gallery section of my website.
However, the paintwork...no rust (except a bit of bubbling on the N/S edge of the bootlid) BUT in addition to some badly touched-in stone chips and scratches it also looks like it was either washed once with a scouring pad or went through a bad whirly-brush car wash at some stage as particularly the sides are covered in tiny scratches.
You can't see them from 5ft but if you get up close you'll seeit's covered in them. Really, to make a superb example, one would have a full repaint of everything except the roof which I spent a whole day on machine polishing and it has come up perfect. There is also some rust around the front jacking points.
I bought it mainly as a stop gap whilst my wife's e39 Touring was having its head-gasket fixed and for me to drive whilst my Mercedes W124 Coupe might be off the road during it's restoration. Thereafter I'm undecided as to what I'll do. I'd love to keep it and get it looking cosmetically 'right' as this car really does deserve it. But I have far too many cars at the moment (eight!) and so I may have to let it go. Pity!
So, if there's anyone out there who might be interested in putting in an 'advance order' feel free to contact me via my website if you want anymore info. This car would be a very easy project to turn into something really very nice indeed.
