Bought it for £200 about a year back, been sitting since 2003 and had previously been used by 'drifters' around a farm

Image

Both front wings were rotten,so off they came eventually ,the seam sealer used was like gripfill! Was all solid underneath though so cleaned up with a wire brush in a grinder.

Image

Rubbed down,anti-stonechip spray followed by 2 coats of smoothrite gold.

Same treatment for the rear arches

New front wings were sourced

along with a BBS front spoiler
Image
It came with really scabby alloys
Image

Well after hours of work with wet & dry,Simoniz wheel spray and galons of laquer (not to mention several elastoplast) they look like this :-
Image

Image
Somewhat manky

Bought some new centre cap badges from the BMW dealer,£13 for 4 which was nice :)

Image

And after a bit of work with autosol, they came up like so :-

Image
Image
Image

In high-build primer,note the ladder..being a short-arse I needed it for the roof

Image
Image

Then sprayed a light black guide coat all over it.

Image
Image

Then removed masking paper and was glad that I took my time masking up,no overspray!

Image

Then came the fun part,paint!
Me & my mate Paul painted it in the original basecoat colour, but added metalflake in the laquer for extra bling!
Image

On goes the gold basecoat

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Basecoat done.

Image

Image

Mixing the flake ,we used 10 tablespoons per litre of lacquer! Word 8)

Image

Sparkly shit.

Flaked calipers 8)

And here she is,the flake really comes out when the sun is shining (not often enough!)

Tell me about it!! I used to be obsessed with a Model T called 'Revenge' and used to draw it all the time as a kid (iirc dude that built it was called Nick Butler who also did another called 'Andromeda'??)
If it wasn't that, it was jacked up Capri's with knarly kits, portholes, flames and slots (or Cragar's or AR mags) all loaded with flake paint and button dralon interiors.
How tasteless the young are :D

Cheers for the positive comments,as for the engine the little 1.8 4-pot is fine for me ,I'm beyond tearing about now ,as Will Smith once said 'You can't speed through,2 miles an hour so everyone can see you' 8)
Including the purchase price ,I brought the whole car in for less than a grand which was my aim.

Heroic effort, ignore the "drop a big engine in it crowd"

I am going to abe a bit fussy though. In the top "finished article" picture, the mirrors look like they could use a touch of back to black. Even so mate, love it! Well done!
