Yep I’ve driven more or less every BMW up to 2003 models bar some of the very obscure and exiotic cars. I worked for BMW from a young age until my mid 20's

All you people who think you can get constant high MPG figures out of a 6 pot are either extremely slow drivers so don’t need a big enne anyway or your living in a dream world, I did like to cane my 323 what can I say I was young with a 6 pot BMW hence the MPG

328’s are thirsty full stop and anyone who claims otherwise is obviously in denial

Oh and i dont read magazines cant remember the last time i purchased one
Which BMW dealer did you work for and what did you do out of interest?

I get high 20's to low 30's out of my 328i and i do a 70 mile round trip in it 6 days a week non of it motorway and i dont hang about!

Im certainly not deluded!

I think your the one smoking mate, 328's not juicy??? my 1998 E36 323 used to have an average mpg of 18mpg according to the OBC so i dread to think what mpg I would get in a 328 (notice i said "I")

And in answer to your question no my 4 pot does not get 32 mpg my best has been 38mpg on a nice run, and thats without trying really hard to get good MPG.

Never worked out an average but i can assure you my average mpg is far better than the average MPG i would get out of a E36 328.

So what is it your smoking crack or opium??
How much more shite you going to chat in this thread?

You have obviously never owned a 328i and obviously know sweet F.A as they can do an easy 30mpg.

That 323i is boring-boring colour, boring leather, and you would be lucky to get half what you pay for it when you come to sell it.
From what i know know one wants 323i's either and the 328i sport is the most popular and sought after e36 except the M3 and rightly so.

They are also in know way unreliable i ran a 328i sport with next to no oil in for a week filled it back up and it was fine (long story)it also had filthy dirty coolant and had been genearly neglected for most of its 172k but it just kept on going, i also had a minter of a 328i coupe which was a differnet story.

Alot of 328i's also have a lot lower millage on the engine than the clocks show due to having replacement engines by bmw, my best one had 23k on the engine and 64k on the clocks so thats worth knowing. They are a performance bargain so dont waste your hard earnt on a 323i that you will loose half your money on :D

I'd take a 325 over a 328, one bhp less but a much revvier engine according to my mate who has had a few of each and driven them hard. Just make sure you reinforce the diff mountings.

Pah, go home mate

The 328i might have 1 bhp more but look at the torque figures and difference in the torque curves. The m50b25 and m52b28 are completely different with the 2.5 been totaly nasty and the 2.8 silky smooth, they arent in the same league.

Sorry, but an 'outside coampany called Auto Kit' is not a BMW dealer.

But again......which BMW dealer did you work for? Godfrey Hall? Sytner? Cheylesmore? Do tell!

No sugar in coffee thanks Son.

Whats up with you, you fu*k witt?? i hate people like you ignorant retards who wouldnt dare say boo to a goose in real life but like to vent your anger at people over the internet.

And for the record i didn't lie at all i didn't feel the need to give an indepth explanation of why i have driven so many BMW's i was simply answering someones question as to if i had driven a 328

Is that such a big deal....... no so get over it, now go to bed you silly little man (probably by yourself)

night night darling

Aaaah wassup Poppit? Was the horrible man nasty to you? Diddums!

Listen Son, if it's a battle of wits you want, I feel terrible fighting an unarmed Man but if needs must.....

But you lied. You told everyone you worked for a BMW Main dealer when you were just a part time trimmer/valeter/bog cleaner.

Oh, and it's f*ckwit with one 't'.

The word wit does not have two 't's. Just one.

But you are only a half wit, so I guess you need to compensate! :D

Maybe you should try driving both rather than pub talk.

A 325i is a very dull drive compaired to a 328i sport. B28's come alive with an M50 inlet manifold.

I've owned both an E36 325i and E36 328i sport and 2 E30's with M52 B28's and driven countless E36's.

Strenthening the floor is worthwhile on any B25/B28 E36 if it gets hard use.

Barry it had quite a few dings on it a few rust spots, the interior was very tired, the rubber seals around the rear windows was basically cumbling away. It wasn't a total wreck but for that kind of money I was expecting it to be better than what it was.

I've got an E36 328i 4dr manual...the OBC says 27.2mpg average over many months and tanks using it daily commmuting...
If I go on a longish motorway run, even fully loaded, I get easily 30mpg+ and I don't drive slowly or carefully...Went to Cornwall (from Camberley) in May (with the car reasonably loaded with 2 people), drove around a bit, then drove back and the average consumption was over 32mpg...

I don't expect a 323i will net you much better consumption, if at all...likewise an M52 320i would probably net around the same figures, especially if you drove at the same sort of speeds...

i used to get average of about 24 - 26 mpg from several 328's
and on a run you can see 33 ish.

even my M3 Evo doesnt go as low as your 323 did.
im averaging 23.2 mpg overall and 33.5 on a run

My mate's M3 Evo actually recorded 41 mpg on the OBC. It was trundling along a quiet motorway at 70 mph in 6th, just to see if it would do it. And it did, for several miles.
