Newer pics for you E28 lovers:
The car has now had new Bilstein B4's fitted and BMW Mtech springs (-15mm) to tighten up the suspension - It's had a full Inspection II service and a new leather steering wheel fitted (from an E24, I think), a brand new genuine bmw exhaust and new brakes/pads (both were on the way out, so I thought it best to get them changed whilst it was in getting the suspension sorted). I also fitted the obligatory K&N panel filter, which is probably pointless, but I do note a better engine tone since it's been put in?!
To solve the music issue, rather than spending £400-500 on getting a complete system wired in and new speakers/headunit fitted - I decided to go for a bit of an unusual option - I bought a Panasonic iPhone compatable speaker unit (40 watts) and had it wired into the car (12v, 3Amps needed). The unit cost me £100 and the wiring was £20 - I think it fits into the gaping hole very well and is secured in using heavy duty velcro pads (this means that it's still completely portable). i now have access to my entire music collection via my 32gb 3GS iPhone! Sweet, and a quarter of the amount I was gonna spend!
I still think that it needs a professional detail to get the paint up to as good a condition as is possible, but I'll ease off spending another £200-300 just now.
Hope you all like!
