Out and about yesterday and spotted this near enough mint example of a 528i wearing M-Tech badges.

The interior has sport seats (non-leather) and a Tech 1 wheel. She's done the equivelant of around 100,000 miles and hasn't a spot of rust or stone-chip (although I did find a small area needing paint correction, but I'm a fussy bugger).

Is this an Mid '80s E28 as I suspect? And also, would this be a genuine 'M' model in your opinion?

Enjoy the photos :)

Yes this is a mid 80's car and they never did a M in the 528i But they did do a M535i.

Looks pretty nice apart from the stripes.

Released a MotorSport 528i here - sports seats, dog leg box, stripes, alloys, etc but this is a later model and some sort of mock up

I did an internet search and found no record of an M-badged 528i, thus the question ;)

What sort of price do you reckon something like this would fetch in the UK?

I personally don't like the rear spoiler much, although it is being made worse by the stripes somehow. The eyebrows are nasty too  They did not do an ///M 528i, and I have never heard of a motorsport 528i although there were Schnitzer and Alpina 518i based cars. However the kit, seats etc were all options. It looks like it could be a 86/87 car, as for the value over here 528is are not the most expensive probably around 2-2.5K in this condition.

E28s don't fetch as much money as overpriced E30 sports !

I'm not a fan of spoilers at all, but I think the stripe leads the eye back to the spoiler very nicely.

Agreed on the eyebrows, and a chrome kidney grill would be required too.

Looks a lot like the one that's been parked up by the side of the road in Le Mans for a few years!

I was looking at that earlier, it looks almost like an M3 boot to a standard E30 boot if you know what I mean, the back face of the boot looks flatter and taller, it is an optical illusion due to the spoiler ?

You know what? I couldn't see it before, but that boot lid does look different. Look at the gap under the BMW roundel on both boot lids.............it's much bigger in the French car.

Again I think that's an illusion due to the stripes on Splondikes boot lid.

Get someone to chop both boots plain.

No idea, there was no one around to ask, but if s/h French car prices are anything to go by, it'll be very expensive. :?
