520I Touring auto MPG?

Hi as title can anyone tell me roughly what sort of MPG to expect from a 520i auto touring?

Low 20s around urban areas, high 20s on a run. Not enough engine and too much car = lots of petrol

525i would be a better choice, 520 autos are really bad imo especially 24v ones!

Its a 24v I was looking at. Its for my brother he doesnt really want a auto but the one we found only had 60k on the clock. Looked at the 525i but most look a little tired. Thought about the 525tds but they seem to be a fair bit more expensive and with a bucket load of miles on them. It would be his first BMW so didnt want to get him anything with a bit too much poke. I thought the 520i 24v would be ok? What are the manual ones like on fuel? There not as bad as the M20 2 litre lump are they?

I recently had a 1996 520 Touring and got about 450 miles from the tank - 30ish mpg

The engine sounded nice but not as nice as the 525, I would buy another 520 tho!

Guess I was lucky with my tds as it had 113k on the clock when I bought it and I can get 700 miles from a tank

- quite similar performance as the 520, but the tds just has the edge

The M50 lumps are miles better than the M20 ones, had a 520 M20 and I was lucky to get 350 miles from a tank!
