+1 on the getting a four door one. I like the idea of getting one and removing the badges and putting on the normal mirrors, maybe even finding some more understated alloys and having a proper sleeper. M3s look a bit loud for my taste, and every tit with an e36 has got various bits of faux M3 tacked on to it. When you've got 300 brake, why shout about it?

Haha yeah fair enough, I deserve that!

We need to sit in bus stops launching chips at passers by, watching the fat shit get arrested and watching Dale trying to fight anyone that gets in his way (apart from me cos I'm 'ard innit!)

I'll have a chat with Paul and try and drag him out :D

go for it dude it could make for a good read.

i know what you mean though & i've got quite a few myself like falling asleep on a park bench outside a pub in skeg with a mate after a HEAVY nite on the pop & waking up 4 hours later 10 miles down the road & (to this day) no idea how we got there 8O .

get the thread started & i'll post up the rest of them.

Hmmm...there goes a man who doesn't have kids

4 door cars are a lot more useful if your rear seats are occupied often...
furthermore, 4 dr E36s are stronger shells than the coupes...if you get an Evo one, the steering and suspension are the same as coupes as well...

Horses for courses, but a 4dr M3 is a fairly rare thing anyway...Only E36 and E90 versions (E30 and E46 only ever 2drs) are available and they offer someone who needs to carry 4 people regularly a performance option without having to go to an M5 or Audi RS4

Been in the back of an E36 4door recently? There is about as much room as in the back of a 911! So, if your carring 4 people (not young kids) often an E36 is not the ideal car. Ever wondered why there are not many of them around, yep, its because no one wanted then then and no one does now! They are undesireable, pointless turds end of. No E30 or E46 examples says it all... I look through ebay regularly at M3's as I'm in the market for one and to be frank its quite a joke what some people think saloon examples are worth, yes they are rarer but its for a reason! People asking 3.5K+ for one are going to be waiting for a victim for a very long time IMO.....

there's more room in the back of a 4 door e36 than the back of an e30! plenty of non M e36 4 doors, more than coupes at a guess so they can't be that useless.

ideal family car for someone who wants a quick, fun 4 door without having to go down the barge route.

i agree that the rarity of the saloon m3 compared to the coupe doesnt make them worth more, that's just daft. didnt all 4 doors get wood trim too? yuck, would have to get rid of that straight away
cheers,

harry

I HAVE an E36 4dr (albeit not an M3) and there is loads of space in the back, even with me being 6ft in the drivers' seat.

There is LOADS more space in an E36 rear than in the E30 and there isn't a whole heap more in the E34...
The boot is a fair size and shape, too....

My point is, though, that if you use the rear seats often (as I do for kids), then a 4dr is a lot more practical than a 2dr...Of course they can, now (being nearly 6 and 8) get in and out of the 2dr M3 I do have...But they do tend to leave muddy footprints around and the younger one has trouble doing her belt up which is harder in a 2dr...

I know if I *had* to get rid of my E30 M3 (although that isn't likely or planned), then I may well get a 4dr E36 M3...

exactly the same here, we cope fine with a 2 door e30, but things would be so much easier with a 4 door. thankfully the oldest now helps the youngest do their belt up so we no longer have to do the squat in the back / reach over the seat thing :D
cheers,
