I'm really considering getting one. The ones I'm interested in are about 3 years old, 30k miles for about 13k. M agenda.
What did they come with? Are there any "must have" options. Anything to avoid? Main dealer or independant?

I think there was a recall recently on them, according to one of the techinitions that i was chatting to down my local stealers about 2-3 months ago. Can't exaclty remember if it was the 130iS but it was defo a one series and it was a fairly recent re-call. Apart from that... not a clue tbh! hope this sorta helps!

Personally I'd go for either the 135i 3dr (306bhp)
or the 120d/123d

I can't afford a 135 or 123d (becuase they are too new) and 120ds just aren't fast enough for me. I only do 6000 miles per year, mostly cruising on A roads so economy not too much of a problem. Don't like diesel anyway. I know all the stuff about waves of torque but I like smooth revvy engines.

That Z4s on Autotrader too - with even fewer miles (3ooo). its £7-8k cheaper than other models of similar spec / age / miles. Could be a bargain. Looks too good to be true to me.

If you do find one outside of bmw network pm cotswoldbmw with the chassis number and they can do a warranty/recall check on it for you

how well do Se's drive in comparison to m Sports?
I've done a comparison and as far as I can see appart from the body kit its mostly interior trinkets (perforated leather M gear leaver gaiter etc). I can't see if suspension is different or not. They all seem to have leather seats anyway but I do prefer the more buckety style.
The ones I'm looking at are on Autotrader. About 3 years old and less than 30k. The only SE is 11k, M sports start at 13.
The 2k makes a difference - I don't want to any borrow money and can afford the SE without having to tigten my belt. The M sport would stop me buying the sailing boat I fancy.
I'm thinking I'd enjoy the SE and the boat more than just the M Sport (or the M Sport, the boat and no meals out for months).

The M Sport has more supportive seats and stiffer suspension, i'm not totally sure if the ride height is any different though. SE's still handle really well imo, have driven most of the range with this spec. Unfotunately the only only m sport i've driven was a 116i, spoilt the experience somewhat.
