Generally very nice, don't like the wheels or the plasticky interior though. Would make a nice daily for me if it wasn't for the mpg and lack of estateyness.
Think the price is about right.

Not rubbish at all it is still to thirsty for me to warrant its use as a daily driver. I have the 2.8L M20 for my speed kicks I don't need two cars sucking the pumps dry.darkchild wrote:Rubbish. For a 6 cylinder petrol its very good if driven sensibly. My Touring returns 38-40mpg on a run and I can't ask for more than that. Thirsty around town admittedly but then most 2.8's are. It's not a diesel but a lot better than an old 325i.march109 wrote:Not rubbish at all it is still to thirsty for me to warrant its use as a daily driver. Is it rubbish mate is it, well its a 2.8is it will use alot of petrol mate that is fact you cud not buy it as a daily driver but a garaged car that's it, u need to be able to drive your car round town with out stopping for petrol every time you roll out of the garage.
THERE IS NO RIGHT SIDE TO WAR! ONLY THE SIDE THAT IS LEFT!
Thanks for the reasoned and educated debate. Mine averages 32mpg in mixed driving which is fine for me. When I use it for commuting to work (90 mile round trip) it returns 38mpg and I done approx 15K travelling like this the past year. It just takes sensible driving and to read the road ahead. If you thrash it to an inch of its life everytime you drive it you get what you deserve. Mine has been chipped which has helped its mpg slightly.Chase007 wrote:Is it rubbish mate is it, well its a 2.8is it will use alot of petrol mate that is fact you cud not buy it as a daily driver but a garaged car that's it, u need to be able to drive your car round town with out stopping for petrol every time you roll out of the garage.
Whats the point of buying a car to keep it garaged?
Oh and its "could" by the way.

That's a nice one, lovely colour.
Nice car for an enthusiast.
E36 seat bolsters are rubbish, my E36 touring has relatively low miles, and are similar to those.
I take it by the plasticky interior you mean it just looks it? It certainly doesn't feel it whilst in the cockpit.

They are usually very good fuel wise to be honest. 26 - 32 depending on how you drive it is bloody good for a 192hp car thats quite heavy.
Dammo. price is spot on. One of the last made. Wear to the leather is similar to my 99 323 convertible now on 69k. Utterly reliable and a nice drive. The 328 is reletively quick as well. Wish mine had the extra 300cc.

B7's Motto. "If it's French, BURN IT!!!!!!"
I'm considering this one to be honest Trevor, not too many around with this mileage. The colour combo is one of the nicer ones too.
Who made the assumption it was to be a daily driver? I don't use a car for work so fuel use means nothing to me, I wouldn't care whether it did 10 mpg or 50. Either way a car that returns 35mpg is equivalent to 40mpg from a diesel given the premium you pay at the pump for the pleasure of oil burning. Surely a daily driver must be comfortable and rewarding to drive as well as frugal - it's not all about fuel economy is it?
My old 328i touring did very well on fuel, certainly better than an M20 ever would in my experience.

Id say thats priced quite high tbh but it does look a nice example.........A while ago these were fetching alot more than that but lately they dont seem to be going for that much.
Id be scanning through the Autotrader and Pistonheads to compare prices if I were you mate, You can pick up a tidy M3 for not much more than that now.

It's the mileage that makes it worth every penny in my book.e36boy wrote:Id say thats priced quite high tbh but it does look a nice example.........A while ago these were fetching alot more than that but lately they dont seem to be going for that much.

Some clown is likely to come along soon and say his rusting silver Ac snitchzer is 10 times the car that e36 is.
That is a really nice car, I love the wheels, the colour is really really good. The rear valance is great on these with the spoilerless boot. If money were no object, the iS would be scrapped and that would be on the drive in a heartbeat. I think the e36 IS a good looking car with the right bits, much like an e30.
You could go to a posh business meeting park it up next to the 911's, maseratis, astons and it would look right at home. The colour works wonders on that, and no doubt there is a premium for it, but its an investment. It won't lose a lot.
Just the nakisilalsilsillsilsislslislashdlsihdl issue to watch out for I guess?
I wrote it like 'that' (/\) as i am a bit thick and don't even know how to pronouce it properly.

Firstly I didn't assume it would be anyones daily driver I stated that for me it would make a nice daily driver but for the mpg and the lack of estatyness, and this is because I need an estate that can do moon miles cheap. I didn't say anything about its suitability for anyone else! Nor do I think its anyones place to tell me what I consider to be good mpg and praticle for my use.march109 wrote:Generally very nice, don't like the wheels or the plasticky interior though. For old_skool it does sound ideal but we have different uses for our vehicles.
I like the colour, I like the car, I cant stand the wheels like I said though. Does look very executive and as Jon said wouldn't look out of place anywhere.

thats the nuts and a pukka E36 is a lovely thing to drive that is as nice as a fat E46 and not a million miles of an even fatter E90 in refinement
A nice 2.8 M52 is a lovely thing, cracking colour. for what they are they are very good on fuel in all situations, especially if you used to an M20 but it's the grunt which does it, waft along
I saw an Alpina B3 touring this week in that colour and i want it!

(Only kidding)
A clean and original E36 is a great looking and rare thing nowadays. Price looks a tad high though, but where will you find another with that mileage? Rather have a loaded 530i Sport on an X plate though.

Looks sweet as - I'd get in there if you want a nice dirty-six there are sure to be worse examples out there for similar cash
That is/was a bargain IMO.. I willingly paid more than that for my 99 Individual..
I've ran 3 M52's as daily drivers and very recently dropped a 2001 e39 530iS in favor of another 328iS..
I was only getting 18/20mpg on my commute from the 3.0 M54 vs 28/32 from the M52 for the same journey in my current 328..
The M52 makes for a very good all rounder..
Good on fuel considering it's a big 6 pot, bags of torque and a growl to die for..
Compared to the e30 320 & e36 320 I've owned this current one is far better on the juice..
