Yesterday after work, a lady in a Golf went into the back of my 325i at the lights.

damage below:

the lady thought it'll cost around a £100 to get it repaired!

my boot don't open now!

she'll be ringing her insurance and then i'll get some quotes.

I've been told it'll be a write off, possibly the boot line has been bent aswell??

Don't think 325i's are valued at much, it's a 4 door, H&R cup kit, Scorpion, polybushed front, xenon front, strut bars etc

worst thing is that i have an mtech kit, leather, cruise control etc sitting at home!!

her car didn't have a scratch!

A real shame, make sure the car is polished to within and inch of its life, the better is looks when inspected to more leverage you have.

Thats probably a good thing, at least you won't have lost that lot if the car is written off.

You could also try for a buy back option, normally at 10% of the cars value when written off. It will be cheap and you will have all the parts listed to put on another car if you so wish.

I know its not much help now, but the factory fitted tow bar is a hefty 3 inch steel tube thats mounted on the bumper bolt holes, and is completly hidden from view, the hitch is detachable. So when you look at the car you would never know there was a tow bar fitted. I had a similar shunt and it wrecked the other car. Good luck with the repairs.

Yes deffo buy it back.I bought a write off worse than yours for£300 7 years ago.Its a relatively easy repair. mine gave me lots of good service for several years afterwards, then sold it for more than it cost...and it was only a 320 auto

You can always refuse the write off option, and insist on a repair.

Err not true, the 3rd party insurer only has to payout what the car is valued at. If the repairs cost more than it's value then the insurer doesn't have to repair it.

Also not strictly true. NIG Skandia repaired the wifes golf which was so obviously a write off its untrue. The reason? They went to 90% of its value.
The first thing the body shop guy said to me was "whos your insurer?" I told him and his exact words were " the chances are you'll be getting it back then!"

This is why you need classic insurance. Every E30 is now old enough so it's utter madness not to have it. If you had an agreed value of £2000 you would get a 320d courtesy car whilst the insurance company faffed about and a nice £1500 payout and your car back - so you can have a 150 quid repair and 1500 quid in the bank. Best of all it's fully comp and cheaper than normal No Name No Blame insurance.

You can now get unlimited mileage and business use on some classic policies as well. Some will insure from 21 too.

Well worth looking into.
