Swapped my 318is for a fiat coupe 20v turbo off andy. Andy put 6 months tax on the fiat for me but then cancelled the cheque. The fiat was a bag of shit so I sold it on but now the guy who bought it is raging obv cos he is driving about with an unlicenced car. I spoke to andy and he claimed he cancelled the cheque cos the is had head problems and bent arms that I never told him about. He checked the head when he bought and it was fine then no mayo he says compression is down. How wud I know that in not a mechanic. Besides personally I was 100% honest with him and told him everything I kn ew about the car. Andy also told me I didnt need to fill in the v5 for te is as he is a garage and it was trader thing. I've only ever sold one car b4 this so nieve as I was beloved him
now dvla are bugging me for tax for the is which I don't even own anymore. Andys a liar and a cheat so be very carefully when dealing with him as he talks a good game.

Issues with Andye30nut aside.... What possessed you to swap an E30 318IS for a Fiat!?

Sounds like an everyday story of trading in 20 year old cars!
Its your responsibity to inform the DVLA that you have sold your car to either another person or a trader. You should do that the minute you sell a car so that you end your responsibility of it. If you didn't do that, then I would write a letter immediately to the DVLA advising them who you sold the car to and at what time and date, send it recorded next day delivery. Do this also for the Fiat if you havn't done so. Also write to the DVLA telling them you bought the Fiat with tax, and sold it with tax, giving names , addresses and dates. When sending stuff to DVLA always take a copy, and always send it recorded. Keep the receipts for a long time! Don't wait for DVLA to write to you, do it now!
