I met Barclay last week and I bought a car off him. There were a few more issues with the car than had originally been mentioned, but fair play to the guy though, we chatted for ages and eventually came to an agreement that suited both of us.

I'd be happy to deal with him again. :D

Edit: I left this feedback on the premise that Barclay would leave good feedback for me. He's refused to do this as he feels genuinely hard-done by because I negotiated a £100 discount.

On the other [Hypocritical] hand he has no problem whatsoever rationalizing the fact that he left me travel from Aberdeen to Chester to pick up a car that was infinitely more flawed than he let on. The train ticket alone costing me £100. + 7 hours on the bloody train.

There's no chance whatsoever that I'd deal with him again.

I emailed him a list of what I believed to be wrong with the car, and I swear to god I can't see how any sane person could believe the nonsense he came back with to refute my concerns.

He was a nice guy, but if you're expecting to get a decent car off him then you're better off not travelling.

If you're expecting something of mediocre to poor quality then he's your man.

Sean knew it was in his interest to leave feedback.

He threatened to edit this (as above) if I refused to comment positively on his feedback thread

I would recommend that anyone who reads this does not do business with him. The car I sold was advertised for £950

What e30 can you buy with 16" wheels, lowered with bilstein shocks Pi springs, fog lights, sport interior, genuine mtec2 kit for £950?

Can anyone tell me?

I won't begin to go into the scenario, if you want particulars then get in touch.

the guy is not to be dealt with. believe me

I paid for and fitted the NEW back box as purchased from daimlerman above.

Sean refused to pay for the newly fitted exhaust section as previously negotiated by telephone

Simple evidence the man is not to be trusted!

Hardly threatened. We both agreed to leave good feedback before I left your place. You even text me later that night saying you had done well out of the deal. Then you got the hump all of a sudden which has led to this. You had the option of not selling me the car. I was willing to go back to Aberdeen if I didn't get money off. It would have been cheaper as I had a return ticket anyway.

The proof of the "Billstein Dampers" that he showed me was a receipt for one non-branded damper for £34 that was 2 years old. I can easily scan it into a pdf and upload it on here mate. The interior was ripped on the drivers seat and the rear bench. The foglights don't work and there's not even a switch for them, and the kit was not shall we say "factory fitted"

I'm equally willing to speak to people if you want to get in touch with me.

Barx325i wrote: I paid for and fitted the NEW back box as purchased from daimlerman above.

He advertised the car with "backbox needing attention" he called me up before I went down there and told me he had the opportunity to pick up a new exhaust for £50 so I agreed that it would be good to get this fitted which he duly did... using chicken wire. Then when I get there there's still a blow. admittedly not from this section, but nonetheless a substantial blow.
Barx325i wrote:Simple evidence the man is not to be trusted!
We can have an argument on here if you want, and I can post up the list of things wrong with the car that you never mentioned. Then I can post up the response you sent me when I emailed it to you. Let people decide for themselves who they can trust.

One Example: The petrol tank leaked when I filled it to the brim. Even though I specifically asked you if I could fill it beforehand as I knew this can be a common problem. To which you replied "You shouldn't have tried to squeeze £52 of petrol into it"

That's how much it costs to fill a tank mate. Most of them are able to hold it in. It's pretty normal for a car to be able to hold a full tank of fuel. And it was still leaking when I got to Holyhead nearly 2 hours later. I was lucky to be allowed onto the ferry.

I had to fit the spare tank I had at home to the car when I got back. Which meant I didn't get half the work I intended to do on my S50 done!

As i said before, if you want a mediocre to poor car he's your man. Otherwise it's best to steer clear.

Thanks for everything mate.

You've been really great the whole way through. It was a real pleasure to buy a car off you!

it's a basic spec car, the fogs were cosmetic & the switch is buttons!

the back box I explained was £35 - the same amount I paid daimlerman, not £50 - chicken wire is a perfectly adequate short term solution

the receipt bares no relevance to what is actually fitted to the car, you can see the bilsteins surely

what more can I say?

Barclay started a thread on me last night. The entire thing played out in it's entireity and he was revealed as being what he is.

Iain - HartgeH27 moved it to the quarantine and now Barx325i has started another one slating me.

In the interests of fairness this should be re-instated.

Why should my name be tarnished when Barclay has proven himself to be in the wrong.

unfortunately this is your word against mine, but it's easy to see that is yet another lie.

You knew full well the exhaust section was from Daimlerman, you also know full well I initially said £40, and you were fully aware I only paid £35.

You still refused to pay it saying it was still blowing - that's odd because it was perfectly new when I fitted it.

Mate, the entire thing played out last night. All of it.

It was a bit messy but the truth came out.

Now it's been deleted and he's started making the same accusations. At the moment they're going unanswered because I don't want to go through the whole thing again..

As for a ban... you won't have to worry about that. If my reputation and integrity is allowed to suffer given that the information that vindicated me was all published on here and freely available only to be removed to allow him to start another hate campaign. Then I'll leave the zone.

Not exactly a big deal, I'm not a very active member. But there is no way I'm going to be made out to be something I'm not. When the truth was on display a few hours ago.

If it was your reputation on the line here I'm sure you'd feel pretty strongly about it too.

Regards

What it boils down to is this. I agreed a price with Barclay before I travelled of £950.

When I got to the car there was much more wrong with it than he had mentioned.

I negotiated a £100 discount. We both happily completed the deal and agreed to leave good feedback.

I took the car home and spent a weekend sorting it out. Then I advertised it for sale. I left Barclay good feedback and asked him to do the same, then he refused and started calling me names.

I couldn't for the life of me understand what was happening until last night... when he posted up a link to my ad.

Basically he's a sad petty loser. I bought the car, tidied it up and advertised it as a much better car (because of the remedial work I've done) and intend making a small profit. He can't stomach this.

But to further explain the "Profit" here's a breakdown of my costs:

Car £850
Train £99
Ferry £129
Petrol £52
VRT €560 (https://www.ros.ie/VRTEnquiryServlet/showCarCalculator)
New Fuel Tank £100
New ICV €50

Then the "advertised price" is €2250 which obviously I won't get. There's the 10% difference between the currencies to take into acount also.

Basically, Barclay saw the ad... forgot about the VRT and assumed I was going to make a huge stinking profit. He was bitter about this as I'd negotiated a £100 discount and He started making all these accusations. When the truth came out he had masses of egg on his face.

Now the thread where it all played out has been deleted. He's been given free reign to start all over again and make himself look like the good guy.

If there is any shred of justice on this forum PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Re-Instate that thread.

I advertised the car at £950 because that is what the car is worth. Period

This may surprise you but I simply don't care if you make money out of someone along the line, I just feel sorry for the future buyer and you are only doing what I chose not to

You are selling a car worth £950 for €2250 and have the front to say that I tried to rip you off by selling mediocre scrap?

You're such a MORON... That's what this has been about all along.

You've dragged both our names through the mud for this twice and even though you've been proven wrong you still persist.

Yes I may make a tiny profit out of the car. It's my right to do so. Considering the amount of work I had to do to it I certainly deserve to do so.

But that doesn't change the fact that you had no problem with bringing me down to Chester from Aberdeen after blatantly lying about the problems with it.

Be man enough to admit it Barclay. You're a sad bitter loser. The fact that you agreed to sell the car at a discount and now you see me potentially making a profit off it is all that's wrong here.

It's what's been wrong all along and the fact that you'd willingly assassinate both our characters in the process of "outing" yourself is proof enough of the levels you'll stoop to.

It's Valentines day and you've been online sice the crack of dawn.... I don't even have a girlfriend and I'm feeling pretty bad about it.

I've had enough though and I'm off to the gym instead. I've gained the moral highground JUST LIKE I DID IN THE THREAD LAST NIGHT. You've proven yourself a SECOND TIME!

Best of luck mate... like I said before... With your attitude you'll need it!

No, it's not worth it. I won't leave something go when I'm the one who's being wronged. I go on, because I will not rest until what needs to be known is known.

Don't trust this guy peeps. He lured me into a deal under false pretences, then when I kicked up a fuss and refused to complete it at the initial price he agreed to a discount. Hypocritically refusing to acknowlege any wrong doing at the same time. (Why agree to a discount then mate???)

Then AFTER completing a deal he agreed to participate in he kicked up a fuss. He denied that this was due in any way to the fact that he agreed to a discount, and quite frankly never quite pinned down what the reason was.

In the process he dragged both our good names to through the mud till eventually he reveled what the real reason is. He thought I was going to make a stinking fat profit off the car. The spiteful swine.

He did this twice. After he was exposed the first time the thread got deleted and he saw his chance for a second go. He's tried again and the truth has come out a second time.

Inevitably it was all disproved and the fact of the matter is I will make little to no profit off the car. I've had to spend a lot of time and money on the car to get it right which has seen my margin evaporate.
I needed something to drive while I'm doing my S50 conversion and this car was supposed to bridge the gap. I thought I may be able to make a few quid in the interim which would have been win win, but this wil not now be the case. I advertised it early so that I won't have it longer than I have to.

Barclay has over the course of the last few days exposed himself for what he really is. A truly Cretinous individual.

Beware!

FINAL

I hope we can all move on now. :D

Not trying to take sides here but as Seany is a good friend of mine, I still won't sit there and see him made a fool of and name being dragged through the mud for no real reason but jealously from somebody that thinks he was going to make a killing on a car he sold.

Barclay, you simply don't get it!!!

the price in the add is a asking price. I know if bloody annoying but people over here just don't seem to understand if a price is stated, thats what they want.

For example: I've have a friend that just sold a tatty 318iS for 1300 which he wanted 1500 for and is now selling a minter of a sterling silver iS for 4500 yet people are asking for "his best cash price"
He'll probably end up selling it for 3750 as he needs the garage space to fit his new E30 M3 project into it.
Funnily enough, he bought this iS for 2500 and has put a good deal of work into it with all new bushings front to back, new shocks, springs, some cosmetic additions etcc but nobody has a problem with the asking price of 4500 apart from the person that previously sold the car to him (far too cheaply considering the market) who now wants to buy it back even though all the bits gone into it since is worth most of the price hike anyway.

So.... thats some of the 2250 out of the way cut down to about 1900ish in the form of haggling at the moment of sale. Helped by the fact that most people will say "the alloys are sh!t so I'll need to change them too like so will you knock some off it"

You now have the question of VRT to be paid which went up from 340 the time I vrt'ed a 316 years ago to about 5-600 now.

So we're heading to the 1000 quid mark at this stage...

Then for the last few little bits that needed doing add a few hundred quid on parts and time. (Seany lives about 5 minutes from me so I can go over and look at the car properly if you really think he is indeed lying about the condition or what work he had to on it!!!)
Then you got the cost of traveling and collecting the car and bringing it back to Ireland.
So like I said previously in the other thread, it amounts to about 300 quid in most cases.
People would normally charge 500 or so if you got a car picked up in the UK for you

So with all that in mind we're down to almost what he paid for the car.

I questioned you on why you were so hurt by the text message and I mentioned Seany doesn't really have to make money on cars like he used such as helping put himself through college.

To which you replied, "I wish you were a fly on the wall there - it's not a financial issue"

Yet you start the new thread by stating immediately what you sold the car for and what its advertised now in Ireland for :?

I think bickering over a public forum on cases such as this is a waste of time as all parties end up looking worse off because of it. It really would have been much better to just ring Seany up and ask him to justify why the car was for sale at a higher price than you sold it to him in which case he had a justifiable reason.

Even at that, what a person does with something he/she has bought really has nothing to do with the person that sold it to him/her unless the sale was done illegally such as selling a car/ciggerettes/alcohol to people too young.

Both of you would then have had a good nights sleep, some of the mods time wouldn't have been wasted and everybody else wouldn't have eaten a bucket of pop-corn.
