On the 7th of November 2008 I bought a 318ci off these conmen.

I bought it in good faith on the promise that the paperwork was being processed and would be in hand approximately a week later.

I collected the car that night and Mark picked me up from the airport in it.

At this point I'd like to point out that mark and steven are brothers and they collectively make up buchanon Motors.

Now, I collected the car and drove it back to southern Ireland which was prettymuch motorway all the way with a nice cool airstream over the radiator for the whole journey.

I got to ireland and waited a week or so and got in touch with steven to see what the story was with the paperwork...... It was being processed and would be along any day now.

So I duly waited a week and called again.. It would definitely be along shortly.

So again, being the trusting sort of guy I am I waited a fortnight and called again..... It took several phone calls and voicemails before steven would answer the phone and talk to me. He promised me the paperwork was in order and would be along soon. He would phone me asap and let me know what the story was.........

So again I waited, and after a fortnight or so there had been no contact. I tried to phone him again and guess what.... No reply. Despite countless emails, phone calls and voicemails.

I work for a global subcontractor to the oil industry (I'm an engineer) so the next time I was in our Aberdeen office I phoned him off a random number in the office.... He answered the phone immediately and proceeded to ring off as soon as he realised it was me.

So again following countless emails, calls and voicemails I got through on another random line from the office...... and this is how it went:

He told me that (and this is in his own words....)

He took the 318ci as a trade in off a F**king paki who bought a 5 series off him. The paki thought the 5 series was a 2000 but it actually turned out to be a 1999. (He was justifiably pissed off and refused to send on the paperwork without some sort of refund or otherwise. He was happy with the car but wanted some sort of compensation for the fact that the car was a year older than advertised)
Steven refused to accept this and went so far as to tell me on the phone that he had threatened this "F**king Paki" that he would come through to Edinburgh and kick his ******* head in if he didn't forward on the paperwork.
He also told me that he would sort this out one way or another so that I should hold tight for the paperwork.

At this point I realised what sort of person I was dealing with so I initiated the process of getting the paperwork for myself. Which is a total ball-ache from the republic of Ireland as the DVLA wont issue a logbook outside the UK. You have to apply for a certificate of permanent export which takes a month at the very least.

So basically I had had the car for nearly 3 months at this point and still it wasn't in a state to be driven legitimately in the republic.

the cert duly arrived and i thought that I could finally say my peace and leave some bad feedback on ebay and at least have some sort of closure..... but it had been over 90 days since I bought it so I couldn't.

So I swallowed this bitter pill and re-registered the car and took it for a drive....... As soon as i encountered traffic in town the temperature needle shot up....

So I investigated it and lo and behold the headgasket had failed, and to add insult to injury both the water pump and thermostat had been changed recently...... Both of them had a date stamped on the casting.... October 2008.

So needless to say I was raging. Not only had this c**ksucker sold me this heap and strung me along for months regarding the paperwork.... He had also just cost me €1500 in repairs.

Eventually I got it sorted but it cost me more time, effort, heartache and grief than I could afford.... And needless to say it was impossible to get in touch with either of these two D**KHEADS.

So I decided that I'd do something about it. I added them to my favourite sellers list on eBay and played the waiting game. They duly listed an AMG Mercedes C36 and I bid on it and won. The sole purpose of this was to leave negative feedback. I won the car and pretended I'd come and collect it the next day. We agreed a meeting place and then I switched off the mobile I'd phoned off. (Luckily these muppets didn't recognise my username on eBay)

So I did this and left this feedback:
http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI ... dback:2:uk

I left the feedback and the comment was was removed by ebay. so I left a follow up and eBay removed that too. the comment was:
DIRTY ROTTEN LYING CHEATING SCUM, LIES LIES AND MORE DAMN LIES. AVOID AVOID.

Then Mark appeared on here. AKA thesharkfactor and tried advertising a white 325ix which he got a bit of a roasting over. I had a big part to play in this to be fair as I posted up what I've just written here so that other Zoners would know what kind of SCUMBAGS this pair are.

The general consensus regarding the 325ix was that it was well polished and looked well, but the photographs of the underside revealed that it had a bit of rust.

That's the general theme with buchannons cars though..... They all appear to be ok, but in reality their just well polished turds. the merc in question and the 318ci I bought in November both confirm this trend too. Have a look at the auction for the merc on eBay. The car has some serious stone chips on the front and some pretty serious rust which they attempt to play down in the ad. As for the 318ci... I have no proof other than my word. But all I can do is tell you my side of the story and hope you believe me.

Oh and mark Himself confirmed on here that they are autoglym trained valeters.

So mark got the hump and posted on here about how he had hundreds of satisfied customers.... and then posted this link to his other ebay acount which had "glowing feedback"
http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI ... MEFSX:FDBK

However if you read this feedback they have 6 Negatives, 2 Neutrals and a positive in which the buyer was promised a refund if he left a good remark. Needless to say there was a follow-up saying that this never happened.
Oh and this is just in the last 12 months. Theres a multitude of others previous to that.

Also in a glaring demonstration of what type of people these two are they go so far as to personally insult some customers who felt they have been cheated..... Also the general theme of their comments and follow-ups is that they cant be held accountable for the condition of stuff thats older....

I think I've covered pretty much everything here that I can remember..... Nedless to say though I'll remember something else as soon as I've posted this comment.

The previous thread on here relating to this 325ix is here:
http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... 73#1465973
But it has been deleted. I apologise to the moderators if they think I've crossed a line wiht this thread but I had to say my peace.

My advice is that everyone should stay away from these W**KERS, but all I can do is tell as many people as possible about what they're like and hole that I will be listened to.

I'm pretty new to the zone but I hope that what I have posted so far will be an indication of what sort of person I am and that people will take what I say seriously.... I wouldn't go to this much effort for no reason. I really got f**ked over by these guys.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

It sounds like they were totally unreasonable over the paperwork but the head gasket fault didnt come to light until way after the car was out of their posession. Still makes them a company to treat with caution though.

scumbags!! i feel for you having to punt out the 1500 for the headgasket and what not... when buying a car there isnt any way ( in my knowledge ) to check if the headgasket has gone... well other than leaving it standing for a good 20mins.... and fancy saying they were going to beat the other bloke up if he didnt give them the paper work!!.. they can come and try that shit with me if they like... they had better bring a @ucking army with em!

not sure the language was called for??? the bloke has just been sold a car and the seller must have known that the headgasket had gone.. hence the waterpump change and thermostat change... and its just cost the fella £1500 to sort it ontop of what he has already laid out... so if i was him there would be several more @uck's and W@@kers put in. come to think of it.. i would have tried to shove the car up their asses...

Thesharkfactor would have to be a absolute FOOL to sell another dodgy BMW.. Hes name is ruined in the BMW community so its in his own best interest to advertise them as they are and not sell shiny bits of garbage.... You can polish a turd but its still a turd... He should look at selling to another community of people maybe Pugs or Vws because it seems the Bmw people have had enough of him...

Sharkfactor if you read this lift your game mate and stop trying to pull the covers over peoples eyes because sooner or later you will get caught out as you are no doubt now fully aware... Because you will win in the short term by making a fast buck but you will suffer long term as your name gets dragged through the mud...

If it needs repairs state so. If it has rust state so... You might sell it for a few bucks less but your name will remain intact and instead of being known as a shonk you will be known as a completly honest and trust worthy person to deal with.

Trust and honesty are what business are built on. And they will thrive. Consider this lesson learnt.

you should have contacted vosa and complained about the mot. a garage caught issuing dodgy certs will lose its licence.

True enough about the headgasket. But I hadn't been able to drive the car as you only have 24hrs to re-register an imported vehicle in Ireland. Otherwise if you're caught driving it the authorities have the power to sieze it.

So apart from the motorway drive home I hadn't driven it since. Basically they sold it to me with the headgasket failed. Having made a botched attempt to repair it.

Indeed. You have to wonder what the username on here actually means. It's not exactly fitting for a "dealer" !

Just in case any of you are wondering about my username it stems from this story :

Ha Ha, I know.... It's a long story. It was funny all those years ago !

I could open a new account but it doesn't bother me enough to do it.

It came about cos when I was younger all I could get insured on was my mums Freelander. A Diesel one. Which I thought was the fastest thing in the world at the time.... Till my friend shat all over it in a 1.6 Litre Vectra !!!

Nedless to say the p**s was taken mercilessly and the nickname was born and kind of stuck for a while. Just around the time I found the zone!

They're from Loch Lomond/Glasgow.

As for the headgasket, well Ireland is much more expensive than the UK. For cars, parts and labour; hence the reason I travelled over to collect the car in the first place.

Normally I would do a job like this myself as I'm a mechanical engineer with background in messing about with cars. However when the headgasket failed I had to pay somebody else to do the work for me as I just wasn't able to find the time to do it.

I work 70-80 hours a week when I'm busy with extensive travelling. So it was my only option on this occasion.

It cost so much because I had to get a new gasket, new head bolts and I said I might as well do the valve stem seals, exhaust manifold gaskets, inlet manifold gaskets, rocker cover gaskets etc. while I was at it. Then I also had to have the head skimmed and pressure tested before it went back on. With labour added to the equation it was just short of €1500 to get it done. :(

Ireland is phenomenally expensive these days.
