My brother is after another 325 runabout so we arranged to look yesterday at the tourer Drowningman had advertised on here earlier this week.
This is the message I received from him when I asked to view:

Hi
My number is 075** *** 856
Bmw 325i Touring its nice, ( I sold a Manual Black 320i Touring to SPADGE on here with leather mot no rust etc for £250 quid so its priced accordingly and the cars good, Technicians went around it before it was traded in and they been around it before i got it and they say they see less tight 55plate rep cars) looks classy in dark navy blue with cream interior and has all the options.. please feel free to check cars history with Bmw customer support on 0800 325 600 who will give you a free breakdown of everytime it has visited them and specification on vehichle when built (completly standard) 12 months 2 weeks m.o.t no tax. Doesnt smoke warms up fine, ok on petrol and drives rides and feels tight. all electrics windows etc are strong, nice. 1 owner and has Bmw full supplying main dealer service history since new, inspections every 7 months and all work carried out, the only reason he sold he came in for a new x3 as he was concerned the mileage was getting abit high at 151k which is nothing for a well maintained bmw of this era or any era really, i have the log book and have bought it as a trader so you would be its second owner just ring to view weekends evenings Postcode *** ***
Cheers
Chris "
All was well and good - passed his number onto my brother who in turn arranged to view the car. Drowningman provided the following address:
Address removed
We tried calling Drowningman out of courtesey on the way to say we were running late due to traffic - he didnt answer.
We finally arrived at Yawl House - no one was in, so we tried calling him again, no answer. Then we asked the next door neighbour, who said he'd never heard of him. The owner of Yawl House then turned up and didnt know of anyone called Chris selling a Bmw either. We tried to call the number for the rest of the day to no avail.
We then found out the address was completely made up - everything existed but nothing matched, The House, Road Name and Postcode did not relate to eachother in anyway at all.
Needless to say we'd obviously realised by this point we'd been royally messed about and headed home. All in all it was about a 160 mile trip.
I've checked with a few other members on here who have said they've been messed around by Drowningman in the past aswell. I guess I should have checked before going to look at a car, but obviously never expected the outcome we received.
Quite what kind of a sad life someone must lead for them to act like this is totally beyond me.
Apologies to go on but just thought I'd warn other members of the website about Drowningman and maybe someone on here could do something to prevent this happening again.

Can't the mods put up a section listing messers like this so we can all be warned about them?

Are you sure you got the right house?
The postcode / street etc matches
At this time I have removed the address in case this is just a mistake,
Drowningman please comment.

there is a negative feedback list but both sides need to be heard before adding to it.cassa-d wrote:Can't the mods put up a section listing messers like this so we can all be warned about them?

Why wouldnt he answer his phone to the 30 odd times we must have called him. The post code doesnt match - It's for Yawl hill not Yawl Hill Lane.E30Mark wrote:Are you sure you got the right house?

Fuzzy I think we'll here more than just both sides as I know he's messed people around on here before.

if hes got previous for messing members around why is there no negative feedback thread apart from this? if people dont post it up others just end up getting caught out.

RSlut,
I can't comment why he didn't answer his phone, Yawn Hill and Yawn Hill lane appear to be next to each other, perhaps there was a typo in the address he sent you.
We really have to wait and hear his side of the story, hopefully all will be clear soon.

Like me! As if buying a car / parts isn't hard enough sometimes - we've now got to check the 'history' of not only the car, but the seller too.fuzzy wrote:if hes got previous for messing members around why is there no negative feedback thread apart from this? if people dont post it up others just end up getting caught out.

a minute or 2 to look up in the feedback section to give you a clue on a seller isnt exactly hard work but if you dont value your hard earned cash anough to warrant bothering then ........but then if others who have lost out dont bother posting to warn others either.....

E30Mark, would it not be a good idea to lock this until Drowningman responds?.
Not sticking up for the bloke, as i have read other damning reports about him too, but would be fair to see his reply first.
RSlut, that doe,nt mean i doubt your version of events btw

RSlut, I got the PM last night.
This is not looking good for Drowningman, But I think we should hold off of condemming him until we have heard his side of the story.

naaa, lets condem him to death then all backtrack when there turns out to be a reasonable explanation.
it makes for a more interesting thread.

march109, well IF he is a messer, then he probably will not respond but then he will have condemned himself.
Admittedley it is not looking good for him atm.

Chaps, I'm merely saying what happened and trying to make others aware as I wouldnt want it happening to anyone else. Maybe he has a reasonable explanation, like he forgot his address and lost use of his hands so was unable to answer the phone - I really hope he does!
Fuzzy I reckon you've got an answer to everything mate
Also forgot to mention - we stopped off at a pub just up the road where he told us to meet him, when we walked out a Blue G-plate 325 touring with cream interior drove past - coincidence maybe, but in a village as small as that I doubt it.

Sounds like a wild goose chase to me
Did you get the reg number of the blue 325i Touring as it drove past, I would have run after it arms flailing after having driven all that way!

Just for the record i have never bought a car from this 'Drowningman' bloke so that is just total bollox
He is a proven bull merchant who jerked me around a couple of years ago over a car he was going to buy from me and then disapeared off the Zone.
He is just a wind-up merchant who one minute works for BMW dealership and the next owns the dealership and is a property tycoon
Believe nothing he says and certainly do not wate your time going to look at anything he says he has!

Anyone remember the phantom unmolested, one old aged owner, always garaged blah blah sport drowning man put up on this site, must have been two or three years ago now.
It got a few zoners bang at it, including myself.
SPADGE, last time i knew drowning man was an estate agent.

IT was i who bought the 320 touring off him a while back. I must say trying to contact him and arrange things was hard work and until i seen the car i had my doubts. He seemed ok, albeit a touch eccentric, unlike my salt of the earth self !
