So what was the reason for the price reduction from 150 to 85 quid? Was it not as 2 of the legal good tyres were being removed??

Why didn't you get the wheels checked on a balance machine before buying new rubber?

It is very likely that the seller wasn't aware if/that 2 of the wheels were like popadoms if they came off the rear of a vehicle and were then fitted on the front of yours.

This seems like a lot of fuss over a set of 85 quid alloys to me and something that should easily be sorted via the telephone instead of continual tit-for-tat on here :?

Just my 2p

There is isn't a hope in hell I would buy a set of £80 17" alloys and expect to be able to fit them straight on my car without any work / replacement of tyres needed?

Was you planning on driving the car with bold inner edged tyres for a while Rob?

Tbh you surprise me, I PM'd you when I was having trouble getting money owed to me from Richard (Delphincabby) you told me you like to give people the benefit of the doubt etc etc... As appose to calling him names and disrespecting someone and their family.

I understand your an instructor, you haven't shown much self control imho.

I understand you cant just forget about the £80 + extras, as I was pretty p1ssed when my £30 was taken and It took numerous phone calls and texts until I got an out come... Only then did I tell him I thought he was a pr!ck, I also got no letter of apology.

The true problem here is everyone has a different definition of 'Mint' or 'Good condition' etc etc.

Its a shame this hasn't been resolved, you both are regular users and are both tarring your own names.

As Spadge said "This seems like a lot of fuss over a set of 85 quid alloys to me and something that should easily be sorted via the telephone instead of continual tit-for-tat on here"

Are these the wheels in question? -

no i was not mate, i knew that i would have needed tires at some point but i was given no reason to belive they were anything other than used tires, ie dangerous and unuseable.

the the advert said rear tyres in great nick with about 6mm on each
fronts are ok with slight wear on insides
white bubbling type marks on the edges with slight kerbing, unnoticeable unless close up hence price .

what you say to that advert, does that say tires are buggered, knackered, have holes in,split, dangerous or in need of replacing, no they don't

don't take this the wrong way, but i'm sick of saying , if snoops had told me the tires needed replacing i would NOT have bought the whe wheels fullstop.....

that's why i'm so angry, it's not just £85 it's £85 = wheels + £80 = tires + £35 = courier = £200
but then again it's not just about money,

1)he didn't tell me that the tires were unuseable.
2)when asked he told me that everything was good when it left him.
3)then changed his story and said the tires were not looked at properly.
4)then he said he changed the tires with his own personal wheels.

he has missled me from the off, changed his story, then when asked questions he denyed he had done anything wrong, or had sold me dodgy goods.

yes mate, but as you may know i sold my wheels to essexboy and i made a deal with him and kept to it so i had no choice than to have these on.
Oooh, I like them! - They heavy?

tbh i can see Rob's point, it doesnt matter how much the wheels were, they were sold as being good, regardless of tyres, yet it transposed they are bent.. Why would you buy a bent set of rims?! £10 or £80 or £200? Price is nothing, if the wheels are unuseable

as i have said many times before
1) one of the tires had hole in it this size ( O )
2) the other one's sidewall was coming away from the tire
3) he hadn't sent the long wheel bolts at the time.
4) why would you get them balenced when he told me they were fine?

Write off delivery costs. Get £80 off snoops and give him the wheels back.

See if your tyre-fitter will return the unused tyres to stock, keep them for future use or sell them at a slight loss on here.

You'll never see your money back off snoops and, in the best-meaning way, you're starting to rant about it without any sign of progress from the other party.

Your only other real option is Small Claims Court which will cost you £50 and you'll see nothing more than the price of the wheels and your costs back anyway, unless you're knobbing the magistrate. 8O

the reason i said what it cost is because everyone thinks this cost me £80 so i should stop worrying it about it, but it cost me £200
It has cost you £200 fella but you do still have the 2 new tyres you bought do you not?
This isn't dead money as you can use them on a straight set of wheels or sell them.
As for checking them BEFORE buying tyres i would always do this as like i said before 'if they have been on the back of a car the seller may not have known they were bent'.

the whole point is i had a set of wheels , i wanted a set of cheep wheels sell mine and with the extra get a lightened flywheel.

i would not knowingly have bought anything unuseable and hopefully for the last time of explaining

IF I KNEW THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THEM AND WOULD NOT BE IN THIS SITUATION

thanks rob

to return the wheels would incur another delivery charge. a tyre fitter will not return a tyre to stock if its been on the road and these have and more importantly snoops is denying any part in this.
only option i see is to get the buckled wheel straightened but if they are just cheap wheels its maybe not worth laying out more cash on them.
looks to me like its a dead loss to put down to experience in the hope one day you might bump into each other at a future meet.
sad but true and the worst thing is now both of you will have been tarred with the same brush by the rest of the zone not knowing who was the liar.

Jhonno you are right sorry tired eyes playing tricks :o:

fuzzy you also are right , but as for the people who have witnessed the damage, wheel wobble after fitting the wheels etc, and those who know me will vouch for me and i think in time they will see who is the liar.

thing is i have nothing to gain from lying , he is the one who is quids in

You have good cause to be in some respects Rob....

But it proves you cant always judge people by your own standards, that works for both of you, as I said before and echoed by Fuzzy its tarred both your names, you have washed your linen in public for all of us to see.

If only you had taken some photos of them when they arrived, things could of been so much easier, to be fair it has absolutely nowt to do with me so I will not comment again :o:

I just don't like this type of thing, come on guys you must be able to come to an agreement?

its a f*****g right annoying place to be for sure but what can be done ? unless someone backed down and changed their story its going to go around in circles. i think its went to far now for anyone to back down and be able to save any face.
the tyres are at least still yours for you to use at a future date when you get some straight wheels so they arent a loss but an investment. £120 down doesnt hurt quite so much but its still not an amount that many can afford to just let go off.
i do hope it gets sorted as no one like any ill feeling floating around the place.

I have a solution.

Rob, keep the new tyres off the wheels, for your next set of 17's. Lets face it, it won't be long.

The other two with decent'ish tread, keep or sell on ebay, say £25?

Scrap the wheels at a tenner each £40.

Thats £65 out of £80, then ask snoops to give you £15 or a donation towards a pint. I have a feeling snoops never knew they were buckled and feels he is getting a bad name for no reasons.

Money towards a pint shows some goodwill at least?

Sounds fair if both agree, remember even if you purchased them online from a store before you get a refund you would be required to return the goods at your cost.

Also remembering these are secondhand parts with no warranty implied or offered.

I don't mind doing this just to prove that I am not a scammer and to keep a good name

I could have got £40/50 scrap value for these but I sold them for £80, why on earth would I want to be so stupid and scam someone for £30 and get a bad name on here? If I really wanted to scam you I could have not posted the spacers/spigot rings/wheel bolts and said they got lost in the post and made £30 there

that's the sort of thing people do with cars i.e. lie about the mileage, etc - how much money do they make? hundreds

so you think to yourself mr hongkongfuey why would I go to all this trouble and risk getting a bad name for a measley £30? and again, if you have anything to say, give me a bell

So is this matter somewhere near being settled then?

My Touring pulls to the left if I put the rear wheels on the front, and the fronts on the rear. As is, it runs perfectly straight.

i'm not phoning as anything could be said and used against either of on here which would only cause more sh1t.

It's cost me £200 so far. To buy some other wheels (without tires so i can use the ones i got) is going to be about £50ish or more, then courier if not in my area £35, then taking off and putting on of the tires on the new rims £50 .............. so take off £40-50 for scrapping the rims

so the cost of this whole outing will basically cost me about £300

so i thought to resolve this quickly how about giving me £35 which is what i paid for the courier, this would still leave you with £40 which was the price you would have got for scrap.

i think this fair as i am so out of pocket

I think your missing the point here, I never sold the wheels as scrap which is why I won't give you £35 as why should I pay for the courier? , then I will have sold them for £45 when I know they are worth more than that because they weren't bent

the only reason I was going to give you £15 was out of good will to save my name and keep the peace

as said here, you cannot count the cost of tyres making you out of pocket as you can stick them on your next wheels

OK.

This is the solution.

Snoops has agreed to pay HKF £15, HKF will weigh the wheels in, lets take a good lesson from this one and learn that if you are not sure - THEN GO AND HAVE A LOOK. Otherwise its 'Caveat Empor' or in English at buyers risk.

HKF has agreed to accept this way ahead and I know Snoops will as well.

This is closure, total closure, both members have let the Zone down but lets claw back some respectability and move on.

Thankyou and Goodnight.
