Meguires car washs?

What is the difference between the NXT car wash and the gold class shampoo? (apart from the price!)

I presume that neither of these two strip your wax off?

I've tried searching,but can't find any comparisons.

I use Gold class...good stuff! Not used NXT yet...was on my shopping list when the gold class runs out...would also like to know what the difference is.

To be honest I would avoid both. Gold class has been proven to diminish the protection of your wax and I have personally found NXT to leave a slightly greasy dull finish.

I purchased a bottle of shampoo plus last week and am 100% happy with it. It feels very well lubricated, Leaves a nice bright finish and is really cost effective.

The pump dispenses 30ml (1oz) of product which is the right amount for 4.55ltrs (1gal) of water.

The bottle should last ages, Nice and cheap when you compare it to the retail stuff.

have to agree with you Dave with what you say about the meguairs retail shampoo, i beleive this is what drove me away from Zaino products as it was stripping it off,

best left alone in my opinion and get some maxi suds or what Dave has linked to their,

Maxi suds is a great shampoo, But again it comes down to cost. Sounds tight but I need something that will return good value.

When did you want to pop down Ian. I feel you may want to have a play with the aladins cave that is my garage.

To be honest mate, I would forget most of the stuff you can find in shops. Great for a quick fix but really not the best value or quality.

Thing is,i have just ordered some stuff from here yesterday morning!!! I didn't order any wash/shampoo thou because i thought i'd get it from the local hellfrauds instead (as have prev. been using the NXT). Didn't expect the NXT/gold class to get the "negetive" response it has from you and 1an

I can see what you mean with the NXT thou,leaving a slightly dull finish,hence my original question(i was hopeing the g/class would leave a brighter finish without any wax strip)

Oh well,looks like i may have to pay some more postage!

it isnt a megative response, well maybe, but when your buying Zaino products you dont want it stripping the product of when its almost £30 a bottle, as Dave said it is a quick fix if you get stuck, but if you have the space then i would recomend getting some of the meguairs shampoo Dave said about,

Would the Gold class strip off the Collinite 915??

That claims to be 'Shampoo proof', and claims it won't wash off!

you will always strip the protection of gradually anyway with what ever shampoo, but meguairs seems to strip it of quicker than alot of shampoos,

put it this way, it was stripping my zaino of very quickly and everyone knows how long Zaino SHOULD give protection for, it was lasting tops of a month in the summer being washed once a week!

Colnite is a great wax, but you wanna try some DoDo wax next year or what Dave is using on his car at the moment,

Really tempted by Dodo's new twin wax for next year. Seems to tick all the right boxes imo.

I think Swissvax and Zymol have a new name that is hot on their heals.

Thats another thing..........if i were to change my choice of wax to a different brand,would i be able to just apply it on top of my previous choice or would i have to start again by cleaning the old stuff off,polishing and then re-waxing???

When I swapped from Victorias collectors to Swissvax Onyx last week the car went through the following process:

Low pressure rinse,
Snowfoam.
High pressure rinse,
Washed with the two bucket method,
High pressure rinse,
Clayed,
Snowfoam,
High pressure rinse,
Dryed,
Claying left some marring so I had to polish the surface again.
Waxed.

Seems like a lot of effort but at least I know the wax went onto a properly prepared surface and will give the best it can in terms of durability and looks.

I'm guessing by snowfoam that you mean covering the whole car with shampoo foam....was wondering what you use?

Tbh Paul, It's probably fine for most people.

I think we all know how fussy (read as sad) I am about cleaning.

The wash I've taken to using is the retail Zymol one. Lasts a while and doesnt leave residue, provided you rinse thoroughly (which takes me a while as I don't use pressure).

Works nicely on my montreal blue car, but the brilliant red one needs polish and wax quite often to prevent water marking fading paint.
