I have tried 3 times to spray these using plastic primer, topcoat and top lacquer...each time...the paint has failed to cured and ends up smudging and taking on any fingermarks etc..

If anyone has done this successfully...and can share how they succeeded... then bottles of falling down water will be posted to you!

The car is a 1990 320i coupe in gleitscher blau metallic.

How long did you leave them to dry? between coats, i left mine for 20 minutes, and after the final coat, they were left for 2 days (in a warm room) without being touched.

I had the advantage of having a second set of mirrors, so never had to drive witout them fitted.

All of the paints need to be the same brand too.

Hi I did mine on my last car Calypso red.
1 Rub them down
2 clean with panel wipe
3 spray with primer
4 when dry spray with paint
5 when dry spray with paint
6 when dry spray with lacqer
I did this on a hot summers day in the back yard.I hung the mirrors on the clothes line to dry. They turned out not to bad.I hope this helps and I know it is a bit primitive. Jim

Cheers Jim...i think the mistake I made before was not spending enough time rubbing down the likely 300 coats of 'Back to Black'...will try again and thanks for the tip.
