Any way of 'shrinking' leather?

Hi,

I have been offered some re-trimmed seats, but they are not a great set, so have 'wrinkles' in the leather. Its all a bit baggy.

Just wondering if there is anyting you can work into leather to make it taught?

Probably not, as i havent heard of anything, but worth a try

you can try phoning around some retrimming specialists they should be able to give you the best advice

paul these seats are so easy to take apart. once they're apart, you can pull the leather and manoevre it around so that it becomes taught. with the right tools, you can keep it nicely held in place too!!

guess who has the right stuff???

Tell you what if your interested in some sport re-trimmed seats i can send you some pics of them. Like i say the leather isnt stretched enough, but looks like quality leather.

I thought if you heated them it shrunk or is it just more flexible

I used to trim car interiors in a previous job and maxfield is correct, sometimes if you heat the leather up it shrinks around the bolsters etc.

But be warned too much heat n it will be ruined

I watch American Hotrod, they use a trimmer called Gabe Lopez, they use a machine that basically pumps out steam, this apparently softens the leather and makes it shrink.
