I've just finished rubbing down a set of 5 BBS's by hand and my mate is etch priming and then painting them for me and while I'm looking forward to getting them finished and the feeling of satisfaction knowing that I did some of the work myself I'm never doing it again, ever

I did all 5 of mine.....
Cleaned them up with celilose thinner's with an old tooth brush, took a very painstackingly long time
...

Sprayed them with thick primer paint, light sand back with 600 wet'n'dry.
Haven't got a photo of when i covered the centre and painted the rim for some un-none reason
but here's the other's.......4 of the wheel's are sprayed with paint from the local AutoCare

And the finished article after laquer

They look really nice mate, well worth loosing your fingerprints for a few weeks to get a finish like that

easiest way.... get em shot blasted or acid dipped to remove old paint , then powder coat em....trust me , with all the time and money you would spend on paint etc , the above will cost you about Ԛ£25.00 per wheel.
cheers

Have you got any pics of powdercoated BBS? I know someone who does powder coating professionally but I'm not sure it would look right on alloys?muleskinner wrote:easiest way.... get em shot blasted or acid dipped to remove old paint , then powder coat em....trust me , with all the time and money you would spend on paint etc , the above will cost you about Ԛ£25.00 per wheel.

Which paint do you use for silver?
Can you do this with spray cans and how long will it last?
What laquer do you use?

Angle grinder with a sanding flap disc.
Removes Aluminium very quickly though so be careful.
