dunno about best but the Auto-Glym hood cleaner and sealant twin-pack is very good - 20 GBP even at Halfrauds
use the cleaner to... clean

Yeah, autoglym stuff definitely works. Have a two year old hood that looks like it was fitted yesterday. Make sure to clean it well first.

auto-glym hood cleaner as above - just don't use too much as it froths and froths for ever
use an old (worn and so softer) toothbrush to get into the seams - be gentle - then rinse and rinse and rinse those suds away...
