finishing engine bay alloy parts

After removing the protective yellow stuff off my M42 crankcase, oil filter canister and manifolds, and maybe a bit of light wire brushing, what would be a good way to preserve the finish? Without any protection the alloy tends to corrode after a couple of months. I was thinking of spraying with a hi temp paint, eg hycote hi-temp silver or grey. Might look good with a crinkle finish cam cover.

There must be some nicely finished engines bays out there - what have you zoners used?

IIRC Hycote needs heat to fully cure so be careful what parts you use it on. Probably better off with an air cure brand. Local motor factors will probably advise.
