Wheel Cleaning
Moderator: martauto
Does anyone know of a way to get the wheels (14 in BBS) really clean and a product that can keep the finish on them, I dont really want to take them off but if its the only way I will. The wheels dont need refurbishing but I'm looking for a way to keep them as nice as possible, any advice appreciated thanks
Products like wonder wheels work ok but they are a bit harsh. I have started using a cheapo wheel cleaner (sort of stuff you can buy from asda's) and a wheel cleaning brush. This seems to be working well for getting in to all the angles on the wheels - they are a nightmare to clean otherwise!
Hope this helps.

try using liquid soda crystals.they dont have the harmfull acids in like other products do.you can get bottles from http://www.dri-pak.co.uk/index.html.
Meguiars wheel brightener. Available from the meguiars web site. Mix it up to levels of 4:1. You only need to spray this on and let it do the work. You get a big bottle that you need to dilute and in general it works out less than buying wheel cleaner bottles.
Heres the wheels of an M3 i detailed recently. I only used wheel brightener and a pressure washer. But there were one or two bits that needed the wheel brush.

I used a wheel cleaner recently, got it fron internet, good stuff, It said it would remove brake dust, surface corrosion, tarnishing and road grime from alloy and painted wheels, well i gave it a go brought 5 litres for Ԛ£9.99, and i was really pleased with it, it did the job that they said it would. It's got brightning agents in it which keeps the wheels looking good for a long time. Great value for money too which was a bonus....

I cleaned my 15" bbs cross spokes at the weekend, mixed some "cif oxygel from under the sink in a spray bottle with a dish washer tablet and hot water. sounds a bit strange but worked a treat, sprayed it all over each wheel, left if for 15mins, bit of scrubbing to take of the worst of the crap then just jetwashed them. Bling! they where sparkling!
