Fabric Seats

Hi
I have a 1989 e30 and the beige fabric interior is near mint.
The drive's seat is just starting to wear in a couple of places and fray.
Is there anything that can be done to prevent this from getting worse without having to put seat covers on??
Any advice would be great.

Swap the worn bits onto the passenger seat to make it last longer.
