hi all

as well a lot of you know iam a massive massive fan of zaino car polish well in fact all their products

yester day i went to see paul at his garage and see if i could improve some paint problems on his evo sport

i will be honest and say the paint surface was worse than expected and there was serious laquer damage on every panel and i mean every one

i know paul wont mind me being honest

so at half 8 yesterday morning i set to work

now please bear in mind for me to detail a car properly not including interior i would probably take 3 good days

in this case i had 1 day and i had to do my utmost for paul as he was very depressed about paint and its condition

this includes washing ,clay etc etc but car had been washed in fairy liquid day before by paul at my request and dried off which saved some time
but i would like longer with the car as i think i could take it to another level yet

this removed all previous polish/wax etc from paint surface which allowed me to see what i had to contend with and that it was not being partially covered up by any other products

i used a porter cable orbital buffer using sonus sfx pads (different grades)
and zaino zpc along with 3M swirl mark remover to remove all or as many as possible defects from paint surface

prep is the key no doubt about it

if you dont take your time with it you will not get a good finish i have proved this to myself many times in the past and learnt by it
it also allows the product you are using to work to its full potential

zaino is amazing there is nothing to touch it
i say that with confidence as i have tried the lot and they dont get close

its not the cheapest but its the best and you use so little as paul saw that it goes miles

this car was prepped and then had 1 coat of zaino z2 pro applied and it was amazingly thin coat at that
the less you use the better it is
it then had one misted coat of z8 finale spray which enhances the depth

you can layer zaino and it gets deeper and wetter so the sky is the limit for paul now which can become addictive

i used the same microfibre cloths i sold in group buy
paul will tell you that he wiped some water from the bonnet just prior to my arrival from around the roundel with a chamois leather

bear in mind car is black and shows everything up and i mean everything
the damage that one wipe did was astounding
chamois and sponge and stockinette are the work of lucifer himself and will cause more damage thabn you are attempting to rectify

i know chris(billgates ) uses zaino now and has treated himself to a porter cable which willbe with him shortly and ben(the bootyman) has ordered a lot of zaino.

chris i know is happy with results and i know he will take his car to another level with the porter ben is still waiting for proof when he uses it on his amazing cab as he has been a meguiars man

so for any doubters here are the before and then the results

bear in mind like i say this was one day and detailing is a process which goes on and on but i think it illustrates what is achievable for those out there that want the best finish possible using the right products and taking time with prep

comments good or bad are invited car has had a little dust settle on it over night too

first before prep

Image

now pictures taken today outside and bear in mind how murky it has been so there is no brilliant sunshine aiding rflections

WOW!!! 8O
You've got to have a decent spray job to get result's like that in the first place, surely
I have'nt got such a great spray job and the colour of my car is a bit too bright to notice reflection's like that.
After reading a thread about "Zymol" i dived into my pocket and splashed out on some polish and got to work. Unfortunately with this weather and xmas (Excusses, excusses :D ) i have only polished the car once with this stuff and it came out rather quite nice but i just don't get the feeling it's gonna get the same effect as a darker colour.
Am i fighting a losing battle?

The laquer is pretty good tbh.I've got a deep shine when you look close enough as i went by the instruction's on the bottle of how to use it in the propper manner ie; Using a wet cloth to put the polish on gaining a deeper shine and alot easier to wipe off :D

If by using this polish more often do you think i may get a better result as time goes on?
I do feel a bit mislead by all of these product's you can buy as i know i'm not gonna get what i want from this colour, but i like the colour.
I suppose i may be asking retorical question's or even answering my own question's, i don't know but when i've spent a good few hour's giving it alot of elbow greese, i get a good result. Tomorrow morning come's and it's like i've only gave her a sponge down.

I hope this might spread some light :?

i know exactly what you are saying

many people feel like this especially with a product like zymol

heres why
zymol is wax and a very very good wax it is too but wax is not very resiliant
it does not like rain, salt, sun etc etc.
its impact breaks down very quickly tho it will give stunning results they dont last like a synthetic product will

zaino is a sealant and apart from 1 product they do totally non abrasive

zaino will look the same in 6 months

also waxes leave an oily like residue on the paint
i dont like this but others do
zymol needs reapplying a lot to keep finish up
a finish that imho isnt as good as zaino
i have zymol concours wax here
150 quid it was for a tub
yes its good but its not the best and i think you have to look for an allround roduct
by that i mean ease of application
ease of removal
resiliance to nature and the elements
finish ie depth of gloss etc etc

zaino gives them all which is hard to believe but it does.
i have friends in the states that live in texas and their cars are in real high temps all the time and uv rays are bad for paint and if you dont protect it will destroy paint work

they all use zaino and two of them on red bmws and as we all know they go pink in this country thru oxidisation so imagine out there if paint wasnt protected well

prep is the key it really is
27 layers of polish will do nothing if you havent removed all imperfections and previous products and contaminants from your paint surface

all you atre doing is piling more product on top and with wax especially carnuba wax i find you get a build up and eventually it decreases its own effect
but that maybe a personal thing

zymol is a quality product except for the stuff sold in halfords thats not very good imhobut the stuff bought mail order is good and some people swear by it but in the real world of using cars reguarly carnuba wax fails very quickly and needs topping off again reguarly

wash your car in fairy liquid
clay every panel carefully
remove swirls etc with a good quality swirlmark remover
the longer u take the better results you will get
repair chips etc
this will take 90 percent of your detailing time
applying polish and taking off is the easy bit and will take no more than an hour for whole car

the effort will be rewarded

oh and dont use sponges or chamois

use good quality microfibre to wash, dry ,apply and remove

well
i guess people wanna recover from xmas but i may be wrong it all depends on what you all think

i was looking at doing something at end of month which means it will be with me about 10 of feb

ill do it sooner if demand is there

but ill publicise it and ill get somat rolling

i got let down by 2 or 3 last time but others bought the stuff anyway

i was amazed at the response to be fair and the feedback i have had especially about drying cloths has been very very positive

Thank you very much for your advise on this Jon, much appreciated mate.
How much would all of what you suggested set me back?

I really want this to work as my previous car was in Magenta and that had the same treatment of what you are talking about, aswell as a mop, and that made the car look brand new.

mops are dangerous things

what i use is a dual action orbital which will not damage paint unless you are a real dinosaur

when u say "this lot" do you mean polish etc

Thanks John for posting the pics,

As you have said it can get addictive, if I had the wax and microfibers I am sure I would have put a few more coats of Z2pro on today.

Just been to the garage again to take another look. Even though I am back again tomorrow, I had to go and see it again. Its stunning. I want to do more. winkeye

Thing is, its not just the whole car looks good overall, you could take a picture of, say osr wing with fuel flap and wheel, and c post in the same picture, and it would be a stunning picture. Another of the area of a' post, door and top of bonnet, again stunning. Different areas of the car have become absolute works of art. All down to John.

I wish he could take it for 3 days and take it to another level, like his EvoII, but then we would probably fall out at the "show & shine"
JOKE! But, there are a couple of paint and panel imperfections which have to be corrected before going much further.

Simon, a nice suprise to see you. John did say you were popping up. Thanks for the "elephant trunk" tip. I reckon you've saved the car now! :P I'm glad you liked the EvoII, but I think Johns would have the edge! winkeye

Thanks for everyones kind comments, keep them comming....good or bad. :?

my pleasure paul
iam glad you are happy with it

the z8 i put on which was the last mist spray i applied reacts with the z2pr0 and 24 hours after application looks better than first application
it is amazing stuff

you then layer the z2pro and i apply z8 inbetween coats and it seems to really deepen and look wetter than before

i get the impression you are enthusistic about the car again which is a good thing

The Zymol i have got is from Halford's unfortunately but it seemed to be doing it's job at the time.

How much is the Microfibre, polish, clay and swirlmark remover?

John, you say you use a dual action orbital, is that the type with handles opposite each other, mounted on the motor? If you understand,
Ive only ever used mops and theres only so much a car can take as your obviously well aware

I must admit, I didn't notice it when I took the pics earlier, but I did when I emailed them to John. Unfortunately it isn't johns :( He came in a very nice white Merc Sprinter van  It is my EvoII, although the same model and colour as johns, it will never look as nice as his

John...... :notworthy: I have just ordered the Porter cable with the kit. :thumb:
