Dull, almost white, black metal trim around windows?

Hi all. Only been a member for 5 mins and already my brain is burstin! lol
I have a problem with the black metal trim around the windows/doors on my Touring, its realy dull, almost grey. Does anyone know of anything I can polish it with to get it back to A1 condition?

You could try the usual back-to-black stuff but we all know that stays black and shiny for as long as it takes to put the lid back on the tin .

You can either spray it black yourself, using a suitable matt/silk finish, but you have either the hassle of not masking it off well if you keep it on the car when spraying, or buggering it when removing to spray properly. A suitable rub down, etch primer and then black coats will be needed.

Alternatively look in the for sale section or put a post in the wanted section, someone will have one somewhere.

No offence to the other suggestions, but back to black only works on plastic trim IMHO.
You can usually use a cutting polish to good effect on faded black chrome, but it will leave it shiny and not matt. It generally goes shiny on older cars anyway - mine looks fine.
The gutter trims on the touring are extremely hard to get off without bending and thus rarely refit satisfactorily.

ive taken mine off serveral times on the cab and they have always gone back just as easy as they came off, although the rubbers that go on the inside bend quite easily they can be a pain to get back

That's a rare cab indeed if it has gutter trims.

Mine tend to fade to a dark grey but a quick buff with an Autoglym product brings them back to life.

I cant remember what I use and their site is really slow but its a product that revitalises plastic rubber etc

It helps if you can keep your car out of the sun, mine is garaged everey night

IMHO i think Cotty180 is right. My car sit's out in all weather's and it does'nt fade, i think it's a hardened film of shit and just need's buffing up with the right stuff
Try that first geese, it's much cheaper and alot less hasle.

OK Autoglym's site is now playing ball

Try the "bumper care" its for use on exterior plastic and rubber components including bumpers, grilles, mirror casings, mouldings, trim, tyre walls, vinyl roofs, spoilers and mudflaps

Seems to work on mine

But like I say best to keep out of the sun
