Dremels/wheel refurb?

I want to refurb my wheels. They are curbed and suffer from extensive lacquer peel. Is a dremel or similar drill the way to go with restoring them?

I've never used one but have noted in the shops that there are hundreds of different attachments/heads. Which is the most suitable for my requirement?

Any recommendations for particular models or should I just pay someone to do it properly? Don't want to spend days and weeks doing it for a lacklustre result that wont last beyond the first rainfall.

i would pay someone to do it. You can manage to get wheels done for around £30 a wheel if you shop around. My mate is a wheel refurber, does a mint job (properly too) for £25 a rim. I wouldn't dremel them because it will grind the wheel rather than sand it. A good orbital sander / dual action sander is the way to go... and if you need to buy one then its gonna be easier to give them to a shop and get 'em done! Wheels are a ball ache, trust me! I've painted well into 4 figure amounts of wheels!!

Dremmels are brilliant tools but imo the motors dont last long enough, refurbing 4 alloys would kill a Dremmel.

Not too handy for me, thanks all the same. Think I'll take your advice and find a reasonably priced refurber nearer to me though.

best way mate! Then if they dont look as mint as you wanted you can turn your nose up and get them to do them again until they're right!! Do a before and after shot!! Will be nice to see them looking fresh. I'm doing my newly purchased bbs 15"s. they are silver lip and black centres. I'm planning to chrome the lip and silver the centres. I'll show you when they're done...
