Very Excited...
Just bought a load of Chemical guys stuff based on reviews on here and on other websites.
Clay block & Luber
Extreme Body wash shampoo
Butter wet wax
All in one polish
Also got some Sonus Bumper and tyre dressing, microfibre wash mitt and microfibre buffing cloths.
I plan to give the car a thorough detailing next weekend - will post pics, but had to share...
Just had car converted to manual, and done a few other mechnical bits. Paintwork is very tired, and though this will not fix the deep scratches it should vastly improve the paint that remains!

im no expert and recently had my 1st go at detailing, maybe after the clay bar...use farclia g3 compound+waffle pad on the scratches ....youl impress yourself
deep scratches..order a £10 pot of touch up paint from paints 4u, run a very fine line of it through the scratch (if g3 wont sort it) and leave for ideally a week or more or a couple of days, dont worry if it looks "thick" and doesnt match the paint, let it properly dry in fora few days at least, then..use the g3 over it, and it blends it all in, i had an amazing result, be a shame for you to miss out doing that then all the polishing and sealing, although once youve g3d a deep scratch, be careful with polish etc over painted ones, its trial and error
also with the touch up paint..go over the whole car, tiny bit on chips etc, all little bits around the edges of doors and boot on the actual door edges and also in the shut bits, and any and everywhere on painted parts of the car you can find a paitn chip etc, things like that are excellent to do, can really make a difference to the car in detail
for what its worth a £10 pot of paint, £7.99 some g3 and £5 the waffle pads and some time and effort...its better to do all that if your going to break your arms doing all the clar polish and waxing etc and sealing it all ,so you just aswell get it as nice as you can before doing all that to seal it
also auto glym vinyl and rubber treatment on the window seals is an excellent product, really makes them black and nice
autogym interior spray cleaner is the best interior thing ive founnd so far

CG Guys stuff is excellent. Butter wet wax is good stuff, all in one polish is a mix of polish, wax and wax etc.
My fav is mirror Gloss followed by either butter wet wax the ez-creame glaze. CG stuff is really starting to take off in the UK now, word is spreading.

Polsta - thanks for the tips. I'll give that a go because there are a few little scratches I'd like sorting.
especially where some absolute 4rse keyed the bonnet!
Where did you get yur paint from - not clear from above.
All products now arrived, but on the basis of the above I'll be waiting before I give it a thorough going over.

for minor scratches the all in 1 polish should do the job, for deeper ones, try the Farcela, just read the instructions carefully.
Best place for paint is Paint4U.co.uk perfect match every time. I'm ordering some off them this week.

paints4u.com , go on the site...slect touch up paints on the left, then select the pot with brush, then you select the color after that and search outKemlo wrote:Polsta - thanks for the tips. I'll give that a go because there are a few little scratches I'd like sorting.

its better to do that after the clay barring, before you polish and seal it all in with wax etc
polishes...wont fix stone chips and proper scratches like keyed bonnet !! imo £10 pot of paint and a couple of hours fine tooth comb over the car is well worth it, just any and every edge and bit of the car adding a tiny bit makes a nice difference
instead of the pots etc, get a rattle can, a normal chip repair kit (small pots of paint and primer) can then be wet sanded to match the surrounding paint, then lacquer ontop (rattle can) will do lots of scratches and chips, thats what i have to do on mine, deep scratches down to metal in some cases, takes time but worth it.
Full detail over the top with a rotary an nobody would have a clue the scratches and chips were ever there.

What do you think of that?
One of the bits I need to do is about half the size of a 5 pence piece and now has surface rust - I imagine I should take it back to the metal and make the 'chip' slightly larger to ensure it's not spread?
Looking forwards to this as it's my first attempt at something like this!

I don't have a rotary polisher - so it's sore arms for me...m8782538 wrote:instead of the pots etc, get a rattle can, a normal chip repair kit (small pots of paint and primer) can then be wet sanded to match the surrounding paint, then lacquer ontop (rattle can) will do lots of scratches and chips, thats what i have to do on mine, deep scratches down to metal in some cases, takes time but worth it.

I will aim to get some before and afters up I plan to do interior this weekend, and exterior next weekend.
looks ok, but get the bigger tin of touch paint with it thats £10.99..whiuch is laqueur mixed in just paint straight on..for all tiny chips, youl be amazed how much you can findKemlo wrote:http://www.paints4u.com/ProductDetails. ... uctID=6912

for the 5p bit..get kurust from halfords, give it a tiny rub with fine wet n dry paper to remove the rust, be very very careful tho not to do in surrounding paint, and then kurust it... and then see how it looks, maybe re wet/dry very fine to just smooth it best you can, and then paitn it in, leave for a week or 2, then g3 it, to blend it in with surrounding paint, - do that too early the g3 will jsut pull the paint out from the cover up , bit of effort and time with this sort of thing you cna make a hell of an improvement to unsightly blemishes like that
with regards to the post above saying get a rattle can and repair kit.. how can you sue a rattle can on tiny chips ?
a tin of ready mixed touch up paint, needs no primer or leaquer.... i went round the whole car, doing tiny chips any and everywhere, like all in the door shuts, edges of the doors and the boot, like right on the bottom edge, round edge of the bonnet etc and just all down the engine bay paint etc, all the places that are not instanbtly noticable...do do them all with a tiny spec of primer, then paint, then laqueur...would just take forever and i dont see the point it take 3 times longer and youl forget the laqueur etc on some and be generally a nightmare to do, but deeper scratch repair...is a different thing in itself isnt it i know little about

i use a rattle can and blend it in, then lacquer it (if required) less compound required, less rubbing. (being lazy). got a few to do on mine, they are just covered with a wax chip stick at the moment so they don't look quite as bad. Main focus is mechanics and structural stuff at the moment so i can get it through the MOT, then i will sort out the bodywork.
Original aim was for christmas to be back on the road, at the moment i am hoping for september some time, cross fingers.

Good luck with that - what are you doing to it currently? what are the issues?m8782538 wrote:i use a rattle can and blend it in, then lacquer it (if required) less compound required, less rubbing. I hired an upholstery cleaner for the weeend this afternoon - done the seats and mats this evening. Will be removing seats to do carpet properly tomorrow - have taken some before pics.
So much muck has come out it's untrue! the water was black!
I just bought the touch up kit with the brush from paints for you - I'll aim to get cracking with that in time to polish the car next weekend.

Hired an upholstery cleaner for the weekend, onece the house was done I got cracking on the interior.
Immediately after the auto to manual conversion - bit greasy and mucky in there...

A few random before pics of the mats and the seats etc..

The water that came out of the machine at the other end -Grim

The interior as it is now - dodgy looking stain remains on the passenger seat - bit gutted, tried allsorts on it to no avail.

Well impressed with how clean the mats came:

Kurust procured, paints4u delivery arrived - tomorrow (provided there is no rain) will be paint touch up day - this is what I have to contend with...

Looking forwards to getting the car looking something like for the summer...

looks good mate, how much was the cleaner to hire and where from ? does it work out cheaper than a valeters ?
also dont forget some 1200/1500 wet n dry paper , £2.99 a pack of assorted from halfords, may just want to give those scabs a gentle smooth off
and dont forget to clay it 1st before touch up
what id do is..
just clay the scratch areas 1st, not whole panels, then sort them, touch up paint them , then leave the car for a week, ideally a couple, to let the paint really settle in, dont worry if it looks a tad too thick on there, or if it needs re touch up the next day
then - g3 them to blend it in,it will smooth off the paint and make it blend in nice, once happy...then clay the whole car, polish and wax etc
otherwise, if you clay the car- you cant wax them bits, and you dont want to leave it clayed/not waxed for a week, good prep and patience is the key

Stunning stunning stunning
They don't make bm's like this anymore!..They should.

results do look good.
My Paint has arrived and i have G3 compound. just need my cellulose thinners as the Paints4U stuff is not pre-mixed with thinners. then i can airbrush the scabs which have been prepped, deep scratches etc.
Still trying to figure out how i am going to afford to get the welding done, given my solicitor a chase up as i am taking halfords to the cleaners, got the paperwork and they only have 2 weeks left to admit liability so cross fingers for a decent payout (will pay for the welding).
